Ghezzal was born in France. He opted for Algeria though, after the coach asked him to join them. In a way, he saw himself as the Chosen One for them.

But he has a big head. So today he wasn't started by Saadane and he saw that as a betrayal.

Dear God, what an awful match. If the USA doesn't beat both those teams by at least two goals it will be pathetic. Seriously, they looked like opponents we face during the beginning of WC qualifying where we just show up and win 4-0.

USA needs to put the boot on the neck of Slovenia early and get two goals in the first half.

USA 2 - Slovenia 0
England 4 - Algeria 0
USA 3 - Algeria 0
England 3 - Slovenia 1

This was one boring match which Slovenia didn't deserve to win, even though Algeria wasn't necessarily any better. But they just self-destructed at the end, with Ghazzal earning two yellow cards in 15 minutes of play, both of them well deserved and the last one entirely inexcusable. And then that goal: it was almost as bad the goal Green allowed. And that was it: Slovenia hardly did anything and takes 3 points to be on top of this group!

You got gifted a win by a very naive side. Play like that against the US or England and it will get ugly.

I will be surprised if either Slovenia or Algeria make it out of this group.

The smart money's on England and USA now.

But i'll go one further and say that the eventual winner of this tournament will DEFINITELY not come out of group C.

The most revealing thing about today's game to me was the lack of quality on the Slovenian side. Their results in qualifying make me think less of the teams they beat getting here. And make me think less of UEFA as a whole.

As for Algeria, they appeared capable of doing more than they were doing. But their attack seemed toothless.

same as you got gifted goal against England. I dont see diffrence. You will have to prove your supremacy on 18th though.

As I said, in the end, Algeria had 10 shots but only 2 on goal. Straight to the keeper.

Of course I'm watching the Serbia-Ghana game.

Before today's game, I felt that the second team from this group might very well be Algeria. Or possibly Slovenia, but I didn't know much about them. To be sure, I gave the US a 50/50 chance to advance from this group, which means I felt their chances were only slightly better than either Algeria or Slovenia.

Right now, however, I have to agree that it seems very unlikely that either of these teams will make it to the next round. Slovenia just didn't seem to have any quality to make it to the next round despite the 3 undeserved points they were gifted which has put them on top of the group. And Algeria needed some points from today's game if they had any realistic chance to move to the next round.

A boring match comparable to France - Uruguay one.
USA and England are clear favorites in this group , however I still think Slovenia can get a decent result against them, they are a young team and 1st time on WC, they were obviously nervous today.
Looking forward to seeing this group pan out.

players after the game said it was a lot nervousness in them and that they didnt play as they know. It was their first game at WC. They will look much better against USA. I have no doubt about that. I say clash between Koren/Dempsey will be major factor.
