68' 2-0 Greece lob another interesting ball to 7m, where #17 Theofanis Gekas chests it up with back to goal, and everybody sees the bicycle -- he tries it, his defender hip-challenges him, and he doesn't get enough rotation, and lofts it about 25m up.

70' 2-0 Greece send another ball to #14 Dimitrios Salpingidis at 7m slightly wide of left post, he heads down well, and Jung must backpedal to collect on his line, which he does.

70' 2-0 Greece dump it back in down the left. #14 Salpingidis clatters with a defender, bounces up first and runs a half-moon around him, and toe-pokes a great rolling cross at 6m from 6-top left to right post -- where #20 Pantelis Kapetanos meets it with a grasstop volley, and launches it upward at about 60 degrees into the stands.

With the way the Greeks have been playing in the last...say 10 minutes, they would probably need a penalty kick to have any chance of salvaging a draw.

Otto sealed their fate with his Ninis snub. He is one of the few Greek players capable of running at the opposition and creating problems. Of course he gets left on the bench. Does Otto even realise they are losing?

The Greeks are closer to scoring on themselves than they are on Korea!

31500 was the attendance. I believe that is 17k below capacity. Organisers state this was the game they struggled most to sell tickets for.

Gekas with a powerful shot on goal parried away. He seems to be their best player, but that's not saying much.

Nice shot by Theofanis Gekas but the goalkeeper stopped it!

First really decent chance for the Greeks well-saved by the keeper

76' 2-0 #21 Kostas Katsouranis carries to 18m, shoots hard -- off his defender's inner thigh and out. Right corner is headed clear, pings across Korea's box top from center to right as they all rush upfield. #11 Vyntra collects at 25m left sideline, instantly spins and curls a cross into the scrum at the 6-top -- and replays show two Greeks offside at that instant. Greece control the first bounce, blast a shot from 11m into a defender's ribs, and the Greeks clamor for handball -- but no, they were offside first.

80' 2-0 Greece long ball, a leaping Korean at box top only manages to flick it on -- it falls at the feet of #17 Theofanis Gekas at 14m center. He spins and blasts a rising rocket just under his man -- somehow Jung sees through the screen, and blocks it over with one hand.

Amazing how bad this Greek team is looking when compared to the team that qualified by defeating Ukraine. It also hints to the real strength of Switzerland, who won that (easy) UEFA qual group.

The Koreans are playing as if it were a practice at this point.

The Greeks look like they don't feel the urgency to score. They've been playing better than in the first half but they are not pushing forward in numbers...

meanwhile,South Korea almost scored a third.

I'm wondering how come Greece did qualify for the World Cup.

This has been a dominant performance. Korean football at its best. Organized, high energy, and very quick.

The Greeks are not playing better, it's just that the Koreans have stopped pressing; they know they have a dead horse in front, no need to kick it.

I never really understood why teams let up, especially when goal difference is a big factor.

It's better not to accumulate cards or risk injury. It's the first game of seven possible ones.
