I've got TWO teams to support in one day lol

    Nigeria, then England straight after.

Nigeria might be able to get a draw or scrape a cheeky win, depends on which Argentina turns up.

Hopefully it's the awful qualifying one with Maradona's tactical genius in full force.

what the hell is nigeria's XI?

obasi/martins/yakubu up front is fast and powerful against a relativly slow Argentina backline.

Trouble is in midfield, no Mikel covering the back four is a massive loss.

Tiawo-Yobo-____-______ who are the other 2 defenders?

Or, look to the 1978 fixed game vs. Peru (which Argentina needed to win 4:1) where they won 6:0 to progress to the finals and keep Brazil out. Peru players have since come forward and admitted it was fixed, and this is the reason (after another Germany/Austria fix in 1982 the knocked Algeria out) that the final group games are now played simultaneously.

I would generally be able to tell you but since the new coach who has only played 3 games its really up in the air. Problem is he has kept some of Nigerias fastest and better players on the bench. Our fastest players are Martins, Nsofor, Odemwingie, Utaka (but he sucks) and to an extent Obasi. Our midfielders are not that fast, in fact they are somewhat slow. Our 2 wingbacks Taiwo and Odiah are pretty fast as well. Going by the friendlies looks like he will lineup something like this.

    **********************Enyeama**********************

    Odiah************Yobo********Shittu***********Taiwo***

    *****************Etuhu*******Kaita********************

    ***********************Lukman***********************

    Odemwingie******************Yakubu****************Nsofor**

IMO Martins and Obasi should be starting and Yak should be on the bench. Obasi is perhaps our most skilled and technical player, but he is very inconsistent. Lukman is our wildcard, graduated from our U20 team he is our version of Essien, can shoot from far out, and is a workhorse in defense. However there is probably too much pressure on the young lad.

We have been ravaged by injuries, we lost Apam (perhaps our best defender who WestHam wants to sign, played v Arg in olympics) Uche our top scorer in qualifying and perhaps trickiest forward, and of course Mikel. Even though our depth is better than any Nigerian team before these 3 are still a massive loss for us, hopefully we will do okay.

Man, so many teams have been hit by injuries this season, its such a shame.

Good luck, I'm really pulling for Nigeria in this group to make it to the next round.

As you said I think you got the quality, and hopefully the new coach(its the former Swede coach isnt it?) puts the pieces together sooner rather then later.

This should be a really good match.

Your current team has a lot of potential. A lightning strike counter attack is probably going to be your best best. Argentina's defense has not proven itself well, especially for counterattacks.

I am going to be conservative and say we'll pull off a very tough fought 2-1 out of this game. I love Messi's position as enganche. Works perfectly for him at Barca.

That said, Nigeria's a very physical side and they're gonna keep us running the full 90 minutes. Anyone who says this'll be a guaranteed 5-0 or some other high score for us is severely underestimating Nigeria.

I've made predictions for the entire 1st round phase of the tourney through Group A to H. I wouldn't give too much credence to my prophecies though as I had Mexico to win 2-1 against the hosts & Uruguay to beat the troubled French 2-0. In trying to not be too conservative I've probably sold the African's short.

The following are my scores for this group:

    Group B.

    Argentina 3 Nigeria 0
    S. Korea 1 Greece 1
    Greece 1 Nigeria 0
    Argentina 2 S. Korea 0
    Greece 0 Argentina 3
    Nigeria 1 S. Korea 2

I pray that the show is in our favor!!

    Agreed.

Agreed as well. DiMaria should be the shining star of this tournament.

Why don't we do this in the Argentina thread. Better to watch this in our home.

Tough one to call.It really could go either way for so many reasons.

Argentina will probably win this one 2-1 or 3-2....

This is the true test of Diego. We'll see what he has learned since that 6-1 in La Paz.
