Continue all in game discussion here. As has been stated numerous times before. The World Cup forums are heavily moderated so please keep in mind you will be posting amongst people you are unfamiliar with so how you come across in the general forums may be lost in translation here. Again no trolling, flaming, personal attacks and of course no spamming. Aside from that let's have a good time with good discussion.

Here's to hoping the Greeks show some Spartan blood in them today.

Looks like the head official will know when it rains about a half hour earlier than the rest of his crew.

Greece, I know I'm not supposed to complain after 2004, because let's face it, you did something I never thought I'd ever see in my life time.

All I ask is that you look like you actually give a ******** today.

If Nigeria wins (which they should) they're probably through to the second round.

Hopefully both teams attack. But what am I saying? One of these teams is Greece.

Correct, they need a win and a tie. However, I think both of those are 50/50 chances at best.

    Interesting. No Ninis, no Samaras.

when these teams met in 1994 it ended 2-0, I've predicted a similar scoreline....

Samaras was terrible last game. Agree with Ninis, though. He has the ability to make something out of nothing, and not many other people in the squad do.

I have to admit, I'm pretty surprised at the Greeks getting forward in this game.

    They're pressing the attack

That it's awkwardly not full is a glaring sticking point.

Good idea, since they'll probably be pinned in their own penalty area for their next match.

08' 0-0 Possession is pretty even so far -- both teams muddling around :) Both have gotten a few balls into the other's box -- usually right through and out for turnovers.

Funny stat on ESPN GameCast: Among WCs only, Greece's starting average 28.15y is their youngest ever, while Nigeria's 26.82y is their oldest ever.

    12' 0-0 More of same.

Shots from 50 yards out may work in some games, but not against a World Cup side.

That may have something to do with it.

Well, Rehhagel is playing a very defensive system with 3 CBs (Papastathopoulos, Papadopoulos, Kyrgiakos) and Torosidis on the left and Vyntra on the right (I think better than having Seitaridis there).

Salpingidis starting over Samaras may be a good thing.

Huh. That's only slightly older than the age of their average U-16 team.

Having a solid backline can help a team to go forward. I saw that with Switzerland.

    And Nigeria scores.
