Can you believe the tournament starts today already?

7 pm (ET) at the Orange Bowl in Miami; TV = Galavision.

No word on the refs for individual games.

Great match, i'm really looking forward to this one. I think Canada has improved but Costa Rica is still, according to the records, the favourite. I think it will be a tight game with Costa Rica edging out Canada by a 1 goal aggregate.

    CRC 3-2 CAN

It might be a closed game with both teams respecting eachother since it is the first game of the group and both are favorites on paper to advance.

    I say Costa Rica 1 Canada 0

I think the game is going to be close, but Costa Rica will pull it out. Costa Rica wins it 2-1.

Canada has a terrific midfield, but their backline is awful. CR 2-0.

Costa Rica has been strong, but I don't know much about Canada. I'll go with you guys and say CR will take it by one... 2-1.

I'll go contrarian on this one. With Costa Rica's issues at forward, I think this becomes a conservative midfield battle. Set piece goal for Canada. Goal on the counter for CR...

    1-1 FT

    3-1 win for us
this is from nacion.com, interview with Mr Stephen Hart

Fonseca's still going strong, I see. I was doing some research on the USMNT, and I realized that he's scored 5 times against the USA. That may be a record. I know a guy from Norway scored 5 times against the USA in 1948, but I don't know if anyone else has 5 total goals against us.

Glad to see Costa Rica switched from one of the two ugliest jersey makers to the other.

Nice turn out from the Tico supporters.

Canada is looking better so far. Hutchinson with a great move in the box, but he shoots over.

Two sure things about the Ticos over the past four years or so: the fans are terrific and travel well, and the uniforms are ugly. They sell the WC ones for about $25 on various web sites (here, too), and I while sales happen frequently, this is about as low a price as any jersey I have ever seen. Yet I still won't fork over the money!

Canada's really pressuring them, you would've thought the high tempo would be in CR's favor. De Rosario, Hutchinson, Guzman all going right at CR and making some good looking chances.
Can Canada keep it up for all 90?
