The demo was released today. Anyone have a chance to try it yet?

Not much of a ME fan, but I want to download it to check out the Kinect integration.

Tried the demo. It's short, only about 45 minutes long, but a lot of fun. Not too spoilerish. Haven't tried the multiplayer yet.

The Kinect functionality is hit or miss. Why I'd want to say "open door" instead of just hitting A on the gamepad is beyond me. I could see someone saying the conversation options instead of selecting them as sort of a role-playing gimmick. But in the middle of battle yelling out "Garrus, Overload" and having it happen is pretty cool. Better than going through the combat wheel. That I'll use.

If its not too spoilerish I think I will give the demo a shot. Also glad to read that Kinect works for combat that was the one thing I was planning on using it for. I could never get a hang of using the combat wheel at least for the biotic powers in the middle of a battle.

I am not trying the demo. I did it for Dragon Age II and it only made the wait for the game itself harder. :D

Well I never played Mass Effect so instead of downloading the ME3 demo (I take it it's available on PC already) I borrowed the original and am playing through it right now. Looking forward to this game a lot.

If you have a PC that can handle it, the high resolution textures are only available for the PC version, so it'll look better than on the consoles. But as far as I know there is no gamepad support for the PC, so if you wanted to play with a gamepad you'll need to stick to console.

For me since I got the first one on XBox, I've gotten the rest on the XBox as well. No way I'm going to lose my save games.

It's pretty awesome. I also feel pretty well rewarded for playing all three games by the cameos and the little war assets you pick up as a consequence of your previous actions. The decisions are having results.

    ***SPOILERS***

    I love Jack's new role.

Question: does the game have a Mass Effect 2 style import tool for the save games or do you have to install ME2 to import your saves into ME3? I ask because I am going to play this on a new computer as compared to ME2 and it seems silly to have to install ME2 just so I can import the save games.

If you have your save game file just create a documents>mass effect 2> save folder and dump the save game in there.

I had heard Bioware mentioned that you would have fewer companions with you this time around, but the interactions with them would be more meaningful. I think they delivered. I find myself traveling the ship after every mission to see if any of them are talking with each other. Their conversations are great.

I would have to say this is the best game out of the series. All the little nods to the previous games, and what you did. Awesome.

It's by far the best game in the series. I'd say almost everything about it is better.

Also the only time I've ever had tears playing a video game.

Except that ********ing ending. Seriously, I'd read all the hate about it and was still shocked at just how bad it was.

    Not there yet. Almost.

I love the new "downtime" meeting crew on the citadel is fun. I also don't not like any of them. Kaidan is kinda blah, but none of them are really bad (Miranda)

Joker and EDI being a couple is hilarious. And also kinda oedipal, since their relationship seemed to be more mother-son in ME2.

    Okay the ending................................................

    As Jack would say

    "I want to kill something"

    :confused::confused::confused:

It has to be a hallucination HAS TO BE. I cannot accept that ending. If it isn't changed ala DLC, I'll pretend it never happened.

I've invested a lot of time and money into this series over the past five years (being an early adopter of ME1) and that's what I got. Sure the ride was amazing, but the destination was not.

Spoilers........................ be warned. If your still playing don't read.

After having time to think about the ending and reading a bit about it, I maybe over analyzing here.................I think Shepard was indoctrinated.

Harbinger is there after being absent the entire game. Shepard was exposed to a lot of Reaper tech and reapers over the course of the series. And indoctrination is described as a slow, gradual process you don't even realize is happening. James Vega, the "new" character, mentions a "humming" when talked to on the Normandy (which remember has reaper tech). And finds the Citadel off putting in a way he can't describe. (Ashley mentions this in ME1)

Why after Harbinger hits you do your squad-mates disappear? Where did Harbinger go? If he was trying to ensure no one entered the Citadel surely he would have seen you and Anderson and blasted you again. How did the Illusive man get up there? Why does your clothing change? How does Hackett communicate with you? Why does the screen have this oily black tinge on the side (The Rachni queen refers to indoctrination as a song of oily shadows)

The ending was also very similar to what happened to Saren, the "green" ending was basically what he proposed. And the "red" ending is the only one the "god child" says anything negative about, the same entity that refers to the reapers as us. He also takes the form of the same kid from earth?

If you do choose the "red" ending, you can get the hidden ending of someone with N7 armor waking up in London. Shepard won? He beat the indoctrination

I may be reading to much into this and having to much..............wishful thinking. But I hope I'm right and on March 15th Bioware pulls a big surprise.

Another thing that's very weird..............my discs have way more content on them then the installed game does. Several GBs worth.

I refuse to believe the same people who wrote the Genophage scene with Mordin, and the Legion-Tali storyline wrote that ending as a serious ending.

I wouldn't expect there to be a whole lot of unlocked content on the disks. More likely a lot of the information had to be duplicated so the player would only have to switch disks a few times (on the XBox anyway).

As for the ending, I can't remember ever being more pissed after I beat a game. I played through the first two games, 100+ hours total in everything, for this?!? But the more I think about it, the more I agree with what you said. There are too many odd things about the final sequence for them not to be intentional. And Michael Gamble (producer at BioWare) said this on twitter...
So maybe this is BioWare's way to ensure you purchase more DLC when it comes out. You want to see the mega happy ending? $10 please.

Or BioWare really had no clue and they're scrambling around doing damage control while they figure out what the hell they're going to do. If that's the case, I'd expect some retcon of Fallout 3 proportions. Because this ending sucks.
