Would you guys recommend buying the first Mass Effect before going straight into the second? No idea what to expect with this but I'm a big fan of RPG's.
It's a very linear RPG but unique in the sci fi market. I recommend playing it since the beggining, yeah.
I would Skip the first, I played a few hours and hated it. Heard how much better ME2 was and picked it up, I loved it. I didn't miss much story wise.
I think the experience is far superior if you know the back-story of the first game. And I didn't consider ME2 superior to ME. In fact, the level system was far more customizable in ME.
I think he means the side quests aren't a requirement to complete the game. There's a clearly defined start and finish.
