"The Animal" was Edmundo--a talented yet notorious player for his lack discipline. When he came here everyone was expecting something major, but he really just "mailed it in" and never lived up to what he had done in other places.

I really hope that Marquez is not going to Chivas USA.
They're not even my club --- I wouldn't wish him upon any team in the league.
    .........even the Galaxy!!!

    .......I really hate him.

Marquez is being paid 4.6M per year, which doesn't include whatever amount RB is paying him in sponsorship. Now a few of them (Landin, Caraglio) had some amount of transfer fee connected to their signings and that fee is what made the contract over the max amount but those guys were both let go, so it is difficult to say exactly how much of that fee MLS actually paid. Lets just say for the argument the transfer fees MLS actually ended up paying (not the reported one at the beginning of the deal before the player was released) is about the same as the sponsorship money Rafa is getting.

    Rafa Marquez - $4,600,000

Rest of the Worst DPs ever - $4,832,000
    Denilson - 880k
    Landin - 120k
    Mista - 988k
    Jarju - 427k
    Jeferson - 485k
    Caraglio - 54k
    Castillo - 1.78M
    Boskovic - 525k

You can almost put together a TEAM of crap DP players for about what Marquez costs. He has been such an epic failure its difficult to really even put it into words. The top 3 teams in MLS (Sporting, San Jose, Real Salt Lake) have ENTIRE BUDGETS lower than Marquez salary. You know Marquez, the guy not playing right now because he is suspended (again) for breaking a guy's collar bone and kicking him in the face on purpose. When you talk about DP busts, he is so far in front you really can't even take him into consideration anymore. It is just a given that he is the biggest bust in MLS history, the debate now is about who is number two.

If it were a given ... there wouldn't be more than one person in the thread that didn't agree.

Sure, the money point was what I figured someone was going to bring up.

Denilson @ 880K ... in 2007 is pretty equal to Marquez @ 4.6m in 2012 in terms of what he's paid in relation to the rest of the players in the league.

    Denilson played 8 games.

Even saying that he got all 800k for 8 games (100k a game) Rafa made 4.6M (plus sponsorships) for 23 games (200k per game). So even if you were to point to Denilson as being the worst, Rafa still doubles his totals and Denilson never had back to back suspensions.

And what do you mean 'that 880k in 2007 is pretty much 4.6M today?' MLS base salary budget was 2.2M in 2007 and 2.9M in 2012. Denilson was making about 1/3rd what the average team was spending on their entire squad. Rafa is making more than entire teams are spending, some by as much as a million dollars. Any way you look at it, Rafa is much worse of an investment for what RB got back. Not only has Rafa been average on the pitch, but the guy has gotten back to back multi game suspensions for fighting and breaking a guy's collar bone. You can't compare that to a guy JUST playing like crap, Rafa cost more than everyone (by a large margin) AND played like crap AND got suspended for a fight which ruled him out for a crucial playoff game AND broke a dude's collar bone/kicked him in the face. Maybe people don't want to admit it yet for whatever reason, but Rafa has been by far the worst signing in MLS history.
