I know Pekerman is the boss, but the federation should already have a few possible rivals lined up. Simply call Pekerman and ask him which one he prefers. I know that sounds overly simplistic, but saying Pekerman is on vacation sounds massively lazy.
Australia would not be that bad. They want to face a team that can hold possession and play the beautiful game (Like all the teams they have to face in their Group.) so from their perspective it makes sense. From Colombia's perspective they are an "Asian" team. And they would bunker against us defensively like Greece would. Only sad thing is we would have to be searching for streams for this kind of friendly. Unless Bein sports picks it up on delay or something.
I don't have an issue playing any of the teams 'left over'. My biggest issue is why limit yourself to what is now a small bunch when you have clearly had over a month to plan it out. One FIFA date left before the big dance call up. Not a ton of time to fine tune.
There will time to fine tune in May when we know the official rosters. Probably about 3- 4 friendly matches or so before the WC. I really don't think it matters who we play. As long as the team gathers together and trains in march.
http://www.foxsportsla.com/noticias...io-partido-entre-mexico-y-colombia?country=us Well 'we' have not confirmed this friendly against Mexico just as Mexican media also agreed. It's likely a mistake by FIFA itself.
Diego Rueda @diegonoticia7 Jan Fuentes de la federación colombiana de fútbol no confirman el partido ante México, dicen buscar un encuentro en Europa
They're not important/strong enough for our time. We must take full advantage of teams that can match the style of who we're going to face in the world cup.
que inglaterra sea inflado....no quiere decir que sea malo y que no sea un rival digno para enfrentar
Wouldn't they match the Greeks, organized football but with more attack? Besides I know they want to play a rival close to Uruguay
Yeah England is not a bad team and they are not even overrated any more. Most experts expect them to finish 3rd on their group. No one considers them a power house anymore, especially not the British media.
They talk about them because they have the biggest fan base, but no one considers them a power house anymore.
I remember that the NT had something like 6-7 friendlies before the 1994 WC (just in the top of my head we played Saudi Arabia twice, Sweden, Greece, Milan, N. Ireland, Bayern Munich) and we all know how it ended. Friendlies are good, but it won't effect on our performance in the WC for sure. It's a whole different story.
Well mexico it seems discard Adriana Terrazas @AdrianaTerrazas1m Finalmente no se hizo el juego contra Colombia. México jugará el 5 de marzo ante Nigeria en Atlanta y el 31 de mayo ante Ecuador en Dallas
Friendlies may not really translate to success, but it certainly doesn't hurt your chances. We still have some positions that are up for grabs and I'm sure Pekerman would like to experiment a bit in actual competition, not just in practice.
