Still not sure how he can get around the Work Permit and ban on the transfer of children problems, but still very interesting.

Would be one hell of a soft landing after getting pitched from the U17s.

    Thanks for the update.

Anyone can train/trial but to sign a contract he will need a work permit and be 18 if he doesn't have an EU passport. If Liverpool want to sign him they can loan him to Belgium for 3 years and he will get Belgian citizenship.

I appreciate these guys going for it and signing to be a part of what appears to be an accelerated path of player development. The one concern that I have is that Liverpool is signing players from all over the world agressively. I am concerned about them being lost in the shuffle. I am not saying that it will happen and maybe one of the three makes it, but I just read that they just signed that really good kid on Mexico's under 17 team. At the very least, maybe they can use the experience like Spector did at Manchester United to find a place on another lesser club. I guess, at the end of the day, I am just trying to manage my expectations. Glad that these guys are over there (even though only two have actually signed and one of those will need to earn his way over to liverpool from Belgium) but I am trying to make sense of what these developments might actually end up meaning.

I'm sure the success rate of players in youth setups is very low with the actual team they started with, but it seems lots of them at least end up with other teams. It's a game of numbers, Liverpool finds 30 kids and hopes that a few of them pan out for their senior team. For every player we Steven Gerrard that makes it, there's literally hundreds of people who didn't. I'm glad more of our players are in situations like that...sink or swim time for them.

One update I can offer on a young American is Marc Pelosi. He has been given an offer by Liverpool and is currently awaiting to secure a work permit.

Left Wing, has a great long shot from free kicks and the run of play. Seemed to be on the taller side and has good pace. Pretty good ball control, not a flashy dribbler but effective. Seemed pretty tenacious.
