Well at least he doesn't have to be afraid of the dark anymore.

?? most were not impressed with Koroma. I was dis-appoint that Wilmer didn't invite Zack Pfeffer, it would have been nice to compare those two,

Is it a sign of confidence if they sign him to a professional contract at such a young age?

they have to sign him to a pro contract at 17, its the way the law works

the real question is will he get another contract at 18 because that would be for 5 years (contract at 17 is for 3 years)

It's very rare for an "unknown" prospect to sign a contract longer than 3 years.

And I doubt Pelosi will be offered anything longer than 3 either.

I thought Pfeffer had his appendix removed which affected his chances of making the team. Does anyone know if he recovered in time to be considered?

If he goes to Liverpool he will play in the Academy and Reserves first. If he develops well he will join the first team squad. LFC have revamped their academy recently and now have 31 Internationals from the U21s and below in their youth system. LFC had 7 players from their Academy teams featuring in the FIFA U17 World Cup.

I have not seen Pelosi play but if he was given a contract offer then he must have impressed the Scouting team. However statistically most prospects do not make the step up. Expectations should be adjusted accordingly with Pelosi.

Frank Simek was captain of Arsenal's reserve team.

    Enough said.

He recovered in time and played in a Reserve match for the Union. He was disappointed that he wasn't selected.

But I'd imagine they do end up SOMEWHERE. Tough choice. For an American, there's nothing quite like going to a big college at 18, but then again he's been living away from home for a while now so perhaps he doesn't need that experience.

But the chance to go through the LFC youth system doesn't come around to just anyone.

For a high-level U.S. player, being able to obtain an EU passport is worth its weight in gold. The prospect of playing in Liverpool's academy is too good to pass up. Even if he never suits up for Liverpool's 1st team, or doesn't get signed elsewhere in the Premiership, he has a chance to play in the Championship, where I'm sure the starting pay is much better than even for GA signees in MLS.

Just a thought..but John Henry Williams being an American owner and a damn good one I wonder if he's looking back to the US, along with others of course, and is trying to have some US players eventually make the squad. Monetary and performance wise Roush - Fenway and the Redsox are 2 of the most successfully marketed franchises, both owned by John Henry.

Roush-Fenway is actually killing it..in a time when NASCAR is in a down cycle they may be the most profitable race car group and the Sox right after the Yankees are the second most in MLB.

Anyway..not sure if Pelosi potentially signing has anything to do with John Henry...but what would be really great is if Henry bought an MLS team that teamed hand in hand with Liverpool.

Jesus, that is a horrible thought. I would rather our players getting these offers on their own merits. Not some American owner wanting to give someone a bone.

You're going to hear these speculative comments about nepotism anytime there is talk of an American-owned team signing an American player. Goes with the territory, but doesn't mean it has any merit. I can guarantee you that Henry does not care who Liverpool signs to their U19 team.

not quite what i meant, more to the point it has to do with Market Brand. i.e. the Redsox have one of the biggest presence marketing programs in Asia and the DR..more along those lines and similar to what AJAX is trying to do.

Trust me JHW knows who Pelosi is, and is smart enough to trust his staff to make good decisions. That JWH would ever " imply that they should buy or sign an American,' would be utter nonsense, on this I agree.

FWIW, having worked for John Henry before, I'd have to agree with El Michael. John Henry very much gets into the details and knows A LOT about what's going on with everything he has ownership in. If you look closely, there's probably more nepotism here than most people realize....
