For a kid who just returned from the U15 Boys National Team training camp in Carson, California, it's easy to see why he would be programmed to move forward without any fear.

    ...

And that experience, while valuable, probably paled in comparison to how Pelosi spent this past summer - playing with the Borussia Monchengladbach club based in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. Each year he returns to Baden, Germany, where he was born and lived until he was four, and plays with the local youth teams.

Is he in any way related to genius politician Nancy Pelosi?

That's what I thought, she's from the Bay Area isn't she?

She's lived in the San Francisco area for a few decades. Originally she's from Baltimore and only moved to SF after she got married to a guy from there.
Don't know if there is a relation to Marc. I think she has a bunch of grandkids, but I don't know their names or ages.

Pelosi does represent the Bay area - San Francisco to be exact - in Congress and she is from Baltimore originally.

Pelosi is her married name and her brother-in-law, Ronald Pelosi, was a local politician in San Francisco when she moved out there with her husband and he is the one who is often credited with helping her get into SF politics.

So, there are plenty of Pelosi's in NorCal so there's a decent chance Marc is related, at least by marriage, to the Speaker of the House.

Of course, Pelosi is also a common enough name that there's a good chance they aren't related, as well.

    Liverpool?

US U-17 midfielder Marc Pelosi says Liverpool has been keeping tabs on him, and he’ll decide where to head after the Under-17 World Cup.

The speedy playmaker also has interest from elsewhere in England and Europe. Tottenham Hotspur were mentioned as another potential suitor, though rumors linking him to AS Roma seem to be just that.

Maybe we could do a headline change and go with a single Pelosi to Europe thread?

He seems to me something like a Dutch player -- about 5' 10", solid athlete, can play a number of positions. I like his game.

Pelosi was good this tournament, but I don't know if he was the most impressive Yank. Now, I'm sure Liverpool have been watching him for some time, but is this the caliber of club Americans could land at if we didn't have to deal with the EU Passport/Work Permit stuff?

    Impressive

I really do think if Americans didn't have to deal with WPs we would see more players at bigger clubs, especially young ones. We're really the one of only a few countries that have this problem.

    #1 Player has Liverpool offer

U.S. U17 star Marc Pelosi says he has a written offer from Liverpool.

He's currently the top ranked player in the 2012 class, if he heads to Liverpool does anyone think he'll make it on the field or is he just going to keep the bench warm for a few years?

Going to the academy right? Very few of the youth players makes it all the way to the first team starting eleven.

I've got to assume he's heading to the academy. Word is there are other (unofficial) offers from EPL and Bundesliga squads as well. Only time will tell..

Already a thread on him here:

    http://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=887219

In the article it says he was offered a professional contract - does England have restrictions on U-18 players becoming professionals? I.E., would be not actually be allowed to sign a professional contract until he turns 18? If that's the case, then it sounds like he could be joining the youth academy until he's able to sign professionally.

Either way, Liverpool ain't a bad place to start out.

He's fast as crap. Plays like white version of DMB with a mix of Ribery. Very inconsistent but very talented. I was more impressed with him than Koroma. Koroma still has potential but he's not Belotelli like the hype says.

I think it's 16 and English teams use that to steal under 18 talent from Spain and Italy(?).

    I find this line amusing.

I absolutely believe Barcelona would say that, given Liverpool poached Pep Segura and Rodolfo Borrell from Barcelona to run Liverpool's development.

You can sign a professional contract at 17 in England. Even as a professional, he can still be a part of the academy (U-18) team.
