I was quite surprised it wasn't more but I agree, 21 is the least we can do. Although I do wonder what our average is for the season compared to the rest of the league.
http://www.whoscored.com/Regions/25...amStatistics/England-Premier-League-2011-2012 We average 30 a match and unsurprisingly are the leading crossers in the league.
I am getting tired of having to say to myself, 'Yes, we lost, but the positives were...' We lost. End of.
Well maybe I am being dramatic but Suarez out for 8 and the fact that we can't score does rather limit us doesn't it? I am just frustrated. Not suggesting the sky is falling, just frustrated.
Clip the wing(ers) and you ground the Liverbird. Downing & Kuyt were useless on the wings for what seemed like the 30th match in a row. Kuyt doesn’t have it anymore, and I’m beginning to wonder whether Downing will ever have it (“it” being offensive guile and the skill to produce goals/assists). Both are bench players. Maxi & Bellamy deserve both their spots. To those bemoaning Carroll, I would point out that he was surrounded by 2 to 3 Citeh defenders all match as our useless wingers and Adam never once came near entering/penetrating the Citeh box and drawing the defense away from the Geordie. The only good thing Adam did was to draw fouls in dangerous areas, clearly he’s studied under Beckham. He’s much to slow to be positioned anywhere near the front line which brings up the question, why was he slotted behind Carroll and Hendo paired with Spearing in the back? Flip the two around and see what happens. Hendo and Spearing were really good as was the entire defense. We all know what happened on the first goal but Toure’s header was an incredible goal and could not have been stopped by anyone. Glen had a body on him and pushed him out of position but Toure was still able to get a head whilst falling backwards and target the goal. PK call was very soft but it really didn’t matter. Agger & Skrt were rock solid and Dzeko & Co. were kept in check. Think anybody’s foolish enough to pay, let’s say £20M, for Downing? That's not funny.
I was out last night with quite a few neutral supporters and when I was inebriated enough to bring up Liverpool they made the point that Carroll was constantly isolated in the box. His knock downs are pointless when all the midfielders are lining up outside the box to cross to him. As shit as he plays some time(or every time depending how you view the player) he and us would be a lot more effective if we had players near him for the knock down. I
I'm worried. Do you think he got clubbed down by some mad guy before he finished that sentence, and the mad guy was kind enough to think that this post was a set of last words for pikas, and decided to have them posted? I'm very, very worried.
is 26 in England? or was the lad so roped from downing pints that he just passed out. let's hope 'twas the latter
Watch Carroll again. Everytime the ball is put in the air in his direction. He fades back in behind a defender. If by some chance the ball clears his man then he's left with a ball that he's stretching for and the ball will go up, or he can't get any power on it. I think he only made one knockdown in the whole match and that was because he mistimed the ball. Never once did he fight for position to get to the ball first. Not once.
The whole Issue with Carroll is the Price Tag... Yes...He's Young... Yes...He might eventually come Good.... But when you pay 35 MILLLION POUNDS for someone...YOUR LOOKING FOR MOMENTS OF GENIUS....I will still blame KD and not the Player.
in re: Carroll, Andrew the term "panic buy" has been used in connexion with the laddie. i think that's apt. but we have to look at his performance at SJP and try to figure out how he was utilized by CH so successfully.
