He is largely defending Moyes. I would assume he was prompted.

 

So if he needs all this time to get his bearings and we don't even know if he can hack it at this level of club, isn't that a staggering gamble to take?

Especially given that the team was already entering a transitional phase in Fergie's last few seasons.

And to what end? If he manages to sustain what Fergie was achieving, there were other managers capable of that. The only reason to invest all that time, all that money and all that trust in a manager is if we come out the other side significantly better than we already were.

To a Man United team who has been domestically dominant for 25 years, that means transformational, continental-dominance-style change.

What about anything Moyes has done in his entire career, suggests he can produce that?
