In a move that was a long time coming, Longwood will announce their membership in the Big South Conference on Monday, January 23. http://www2.timesdispatch.com/sport...d-on-doorstep-of-big-south-confer-ar-1625305/ I'm assuming this will mean the death of the Atlantic Soccer Conference, which will be reduced to 4 members.
Well, since they didn't have an automatic bid to begin with, they might just keep the ASC together as a four-team league. I doubt they all just fold up, but you never really know, I guess.
You could see Adelphi go to Division II with the rest of the school sports. NJIT could play as an independent since there are a lot of schools in the area to play. Howard might drop the program (once mighty but now ...) and Houston Baptist maybe sneaks into Conference USA with the departure of SMU and UCF. I think the ASC is going to be done.
