The young American-born right midfielder/forward went 90 minutes for the Charlton Reserves against Arsenal Reserves last week in the 1-6 loss. Sam is still only 17 years old! Does Rongen know about this guy yet?

Sam was also on the bench for the Charlton Reserves next game against the Chelsea Reserves and then played 83 minutes for the U-19 team in a victory against Man Utd U-19 earlier this week.

A nice analysis of Sam in a game against the Man U U-19s on 9/3/02

His profile describes him alot like DaMarcus Beasley. Maybe he can play the right side and DaMarcus will hold down the left side.

Certainly sounds like someone Rongen should at least look at for the 20s. Probably won't have time to get him integrated for qualifying but certainly for the WC in March.

BTW, anyone notice that Charlton has a kid in its youth and reserve teams named Mark Ricketts? If this guy is related to Michael then he should be capped by Rongen ASAP!

"Not really rapid enough to be classed in the 'flying' winger category, ..."

I think DMB is fast enough to be classified as a flying winger, even if he does depend more on his "nifty ball skills". How do we know this guy is American-born? When did he move to England? Which nation would he prefer to represent?

Just an interesting story about Llyod Sam...

A year ago Llyod was on different terms with his math teacher. He hated her and she hated him, after failing Mr. Sam on a test for apparently not liking him, Llyod took the test and rolled it up and slapped his teacher with it, saying that he doesn't need school and is going to be a millionaire playing soccer. Llyod is currently done with school.

Llyod is now one of my favorite players, along with Jamar Beasley.

I will assume that a guy with more than 2000 posts in here is throwing in some tongue-in-cheek humor for us. Let's cap Espen Baardsen and Paul Rachubka while we're at it!
