Why couldn't he flip his triangle around w/ the existing personnel? Send Gerrard forward w/ the young Spaniard. Allen would have been fine by himself in front of the defense. I still don't understand his insistence on starting games w/ Gerrard so deep.
Whoever plays the top end of the triangle has to come back and help too. Gerrard, in BR's opinion, doesn't do that anymore. He labours coming back after a foray up front. Our opinions may differ from Rodgers, but it worked, so no complaining here.
I thought the Curse of Jewell was still with us that first half, but great adjustments led to the kind of performance we've yearned for against the weaker competition. Loving Suarez making the comms gag out superlatives (along with whatever snarky little digs they can come up with) and Enrique enjoying some confident play in the attack. Let's keep the good feeling going...
Allen hasn't been fine by himself in front of the defense over the past several weeks. I'm glad BR finally gave Hendo a chance in there.
From 365: * Luis Suarez has converted 17% of his shots this season in the Premier League. His previous record was 9.7%. * As well as being top scorer, Suarez has created the most chances from open play (35) and has had most touches in the opposition box (131) in the PL this season. * Suso had more shots (3) than passes (2) in his 36 minutes on the pitch v Wigan. * Wigan players were dispossessed a massive 17 times at Liverpool with Franco Di Santo losing the ball five times. All Hail Suarez!!! I guess its obvious why Suso was subbed. I wonder if it was a case of the player not making himself available or his teammates not trusting him.
No - Suso was subbed according to Rodgers because he wanted more bite I'm the midfield. Even Rodgers agrees that Suso had a good 35 mins - but the tactics needed to be refreshed and that's it. I wish we wouldn't read into things so much.
