Shelvey could have a hat trick with these chances.

Shelvey has been an absolute waste of space out there today.

Free kick deflects off the crossbar.
    Match over.
    Bad result for us.

If Enrique never plays for us again, I would be fine with it. What a horrid player.

1-1, we outplayed them and deserved a win. Lack of striker support for Suarez is once again the difference.

    Ditto.

There is a consistent match winner buried in him, he just needs more game time to get that. Perhaps a loan in January to give him the playing time under less pressure he needs.

He's gotten into good positions. Just poor finishing.

We lose this game if not for his wonderball to Suarez.

The Shelvey trashing going on here is absolutely 100% ridiculous. Look I'm sure he's just as frustrated as all of us are about his recent poor finishing. That being said, he was the only, and I repeat THE ONLY midfielder with any courage to join Suarez on the attack. If he hadn't come on, the reality is that those chances he missed would not have even existed in the first place, because Gerrard, Sahin, and Allen would have been 30 yards behind the play.

I'm sorry but bitching about Shelvey is almost as bad as the overreaction to the Swansea loss midweek.

That was a deserved red, he goes with intent to injure, that's a red card.

And how direct/route 1 was that ball. A certain jager drinking Geordie would thrive off those balls.

Well the 2nd half was fun to watch but we should have won this one.

And it was a straight red, no doubt. The bastard went in studs up with malicious intentions.

Get off that horse mate. 3 missed chances in 6 minutes is why Scholsey said he infuriates him, i've said the same about Suarez/Torres/Owen/Fowler in games. Its not a judgement on the player but the match.

Calm down mate, I haven't heard anyone 'bitching' about him. He is frustrating to watch. I don't hold him in such a high regard as you do clearly but we're all entitled to an opinion and mine today was that he fluffed a lot and was frustrating to watch. I didn't say 'pull him off, I hate him, don't let him play', I just said he infuriates me. He does. So what?

did we end that game with about 68% possession?
dominant midfield even though nobody stood out. Allens passing wasn't as it has been but his positioning in the lanes was great.

I thought Enrique didnt do too badly, his last play of the day certainly wasn't good though

why didnt Gerrard take that last free kick? seemed to be in his range of crossing.

We HAVE to get better at our corners though. They all seem to hit the first man.

Jones didn't 'hoof' it too much today which was nice

    Suarez world class today

Sorry about that, I thought I quoted the post I intended to quote when I wrote that. I was reacting to the dude who called him a waste of space. The other numerous posts about Shelvey is why I worded the intro the way I did, but it was mostly in reaction to the waste of space post.

Every time the ball came near him he was flat-footed and looked a half step slow.

I am a big Shelvey fan, but he had a bad cameo today.

I thought we played well. Shelvey has to bury that chance. He cost us three points today.

I like Suso a lot. However if Johnson isn't at RB, then we really don't attack from that side. Without an attacking fullback to overlap, I'd like to see sterling over there and assaidi at LF. Or even switch Suso to the midfield and put Gerrard at RF, but we know that will never happen, it's too obvious.

Suarez is starting to heat up 9 (10, really) goals in last 12 matches, all comps. That goal was beyond brilliant. I just can't get enough!

It is officially realistic to think of Suarez as a golden boot candidate now. In fact don't be surprised to see Suarez, Ba, and Van Persie start to break away from the rest in the next few weeks and battle it out all season long.

We really need someone to take a load off Suarez though, him being involved in like 85% of our league goals is beyond ridiculous.
