Reina not even in the squad? I remember he was in the squad for the Everton game. I hope this isn't going to turn into a Friedel/Lloris situation, though it's a little early to overreact.

i'm reading that he re-aggravated his injury in training this week. reina is our starter when healthy, there is no controversy there.

i enjoyed shots of john lithgow hanging out with rodgers before the match.

Crap, we were dominating all half, then Cabaye scores. Almost identical to how the Arsenal game started out. Newcastle's first goal scored against us at Anfield since 2004 (excluding own goals).

I for one would like to see us give it away more.

This is bad. Playing out EXACTLY like the Arsenal game. Not only did they score before halftime despite us dominating, they're now bossing it, we can't get possession.

    Halftime, thank god.

Again shoddy defending gifts our opponents a goal despite the fact that we had manufactured more chances. HT, 0-1 to Newcastle. Let's hope we get more efficient with our chances in the 2nd half.

Terrible defense on that goal conceded, and another penalty Suarez didn't get because of reputation but was clear as day.

I hope he screws all the refs' wives.

Enrique was horrid on their goal. His ex fans are really getting to him.

We need offensive help badly in January. Suarez is good but he can't carry this team. We need more men crashing the box and getting available for Suarez rebounds. Very frustrating.

the first 20 minutes were probably the best i've seen of us this year.

Enrique playing well, getting into dangerous crossing spots, but nobody to cross to. Its like only Suarez is allowed in the box, and if any other of our players go in they will break an ankle or something.

Wisdom an Allen have been our worst out there so far today unfortunately. I dont think Suso and Wisdom are the best pairing up the left.
Allen seems to be trying longer balls today and they aren't paying off. His pass % for today must be in the 70's?

Gerrard trying hard, seems to be everywhere and doing some neet passes, followed by some silly erros

    Suarez is Suarez

Although Wisdom kinda blocked the view, i thought Jones had enough time to get in a position to block that goal

Sterling playing well, running hard, seems to like having Enrique behind him.

Sahin playing good tempo too i think.

The halftime panel explained it well. The midfielders are too scared to join Suarez in attack. He's often all alone in the box with the closest teammate a good 20 yards behind him.

Our only solution to this is probably Assaidi.

Sahin is most at fault for not providing more support to suarez. if SG and Allen are there, he needs to operate within 10 yards of suarez. all kinds of space for him to exploit that he isn't.

I'd bring Assaidi on for Sahin, move Suso to the middle.

Sterling is lucky not to get a yellow for that. Good refing to give a youngster a good warning though.

We're pressing, but still look shaky on the defensive counter

He'll have to wait, I understand Terry and Giggs are both in line.

Enrique with a long ball, Suarez controls on his chest between the defenders, goes around Krul.

    Enrique's passing % has to be 55%.

AHHHHHHHH Shelvey stumbled on the finish.

I don't care though, at least he's got the balls to actually join Suarez in the attack. As long as he does that, he should be starting, because everyone else is too much of a chicken to help Luis out.

Shelvey misses a half goal given to him by Suarez.
