After last week I'd really like to see us try a 4-2-3-1, and give both Allen and Sterling a break... ReinaJohnson Skrtel Agger EnriqueLucas SahinGerrard Henderson ShelveySuarez Jones, Downing, Carragher, Allen, Sterling, Cole, Suso It excludes wingers by replacing them with attacking midfield players, but we haven't been getting much from wingers of late anyways. We need more from our midfield in order to make the possession we keep getting actually matter. Of course I know this isn't happening obviously, Sterling did just sign a new contract and all...
If we're going 4-2-3-1, I'd love this: ReinaJohnson Skrtel Agger EnriqueHendo LucasGerrard Suso ShelveySuarezI think Henderson in the midfield really improves our pressing. I think a base of Lucas and Hendo affords the attacking four more freedom, and I really want to see Suso pulling the strings at the point as a 10.
Scholesy I wish I could take you up on the offer: when I hit the lotto I'll take you up on the offer. And then pay for the tickets.
We should have a Big Soccer meeting at Anfield one day. #yeahrightwouldn'tthatbenice? ScholesyLFC, you sound like a man of means. So we'll meet you where to get on the private jet?
Liverpool: Reina, Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Jose Enrique, Gerrard, Lucas, Shelvey, Fernandez Saez, Suarez, Downing. Subs: Jones, Sahin, Henderson, Carragher, Allen, Sterling, Wisdom. Fulham: Schwarzer, Riether, Hangeland, Hughes, Riise, Kacaniklic, Karagounis, Baird, Richardson, Dejagah, Berbatov. Subs: Stockdale, Senderos, Kasami, Briggs, Rodallega, Frei, Tavares.
Reina with his first save of the game, Looked awkward though. Enrique's looking good again this game.
Lord Stu beautiful pass to the Captain. And he tucks it into the bottom corner. 2-0 to the good. 36min gone.
Had to blink at that one. Good ball by Downing, and he gets that one monkey (not having provided an assist or scored a goal in the league) off his back.
'strewth! In one attack, we had 4 players around the box. Now need to make sure we don't fall asleep at start of second half.
Well we are playing Fulham at home but it is clear that width, movement, and showing up in the box were matters of emphasis in training this week. BR gets the credit, both for squad changes and tactics. We have no way of knowing if defending has improved since Fulham has been toothless. Great first half
To be fair, this is exactly how well we played against Villa for the first 20-25 minutes. Difference is we actually hit the target and changed the game. But you'r right-- we need to find if the defending has got better in the second half. I also think fresher legs and minds (Suso, especially) have made a difference.
Agreed in large part. I do think we are moving a bit better today but also Fulham do not have the energy and commitment that the young Villians showed last week
