@LFCUSA: #LFC U18s v Villa: Crump, Randall, Maguire, Williams, Jones, Rossiter, Ojo, Brannagan, Canos, Trickett-Smith, Kent Pissing rain at St Helens Come on you Reds
FT 3-1 to Liverpool 2nd half sub Harry Wilson with a pair of great goals. Running at people, dropping his shoulder, and blasting the ball into the far corner. Did it twice, the first with a great long run and the second from a great run and pass by Ryan Kent. These are two very similar skilled, pacy inverted wingers. Very good. Trickett-Smith also had a fine match. Rossiter shined in the deep lying CM role between the two center halves. Rest of the team good as well. This Canos lad -- well I am afraid it is clear why Barca let him go.
@Musker_LFC: Liverpool u18s have beaten Blackburn 5-0. Wilson (2), Canos, Ojo and Cleary with the goals. A very good week for them indeed! That is for goals in four days playing only a game and a half by young Harry Wilson. The lad is a real talent
This is great stuff - this is where I think we should get the core of our team from...yes, bring in the occasional "top" player to fill a hole or put some pressure on some of the starters, but the academy and youth teams is where most of our players should come from...develop them under the LFC system, rather than buy them and hope they can adapt to the LFC system...
Agreed 100% To add to this, you can never over-fund the academy, whether that be in its resources or its players. Keep the training ground and the equipment state-of-the-art, and hire the best staff available to run the academy and to introduce the BR system as early as possible in a player's development. You can also never have too many youngsters, and if we keep playing the way we do, and give young players the chances to shine, more and more top young players will want to come to Liverpool while still in their teens.
I agree for the most part and understand this is where FSG would like to be. While it seems there are a lot of promising youngsters in the pipeline they're not ready for prime time yet and we seem to have a number of spots to fill especially if were in the CL next year. I think we'll need 4-5 good purchases next summer depending on how Ibe and Suso develop this year
That's all well and good but the bottom line is that if you get even a handful of first-team players from your academy over the course of a decade, you're doing remarkably well. It would be great to have a team of Carraghers (we all dream of it, right?), but it ain't bloody likely.
It isn't just about players for the first team. It's also about producing players worth something. If you pay 100k for a kid, train him up, and sell him on to Stoke or Sunderland for a couple million, it helps the bottom line.
I'd take a success rate of one first team player every three years with a squad player thrown in for good measure. If we can then develop a Spearing/Robinson annually that raises a few million to be put back into the academy, that is a successful business plan.
We have brought through the academy or bought and developed in our youth structure a cadre of fine players. Flanno, Kelly, Wisdom, Coady, Robinson as well as Sterling, Suso, Ibe, and now Texiera. Buck likes Smith and Sama and McLaughlin too. In the feeder are Rossiter, Trickett-Smith, and Kent. I'd say we are getting value from the investment
Who is Joao Teixeira? http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...ra-profile-Liverpool-midfielder-Portugal.html
So...tell me about this LFCtv...tired of paying $90+ a month to Direct TV just to watch Liverpool play...is there another way to watch LFC games?
No this is a pay site through the Liverpool Internet site. They show youth games and do radio of Liverpool senior games but no TV of games.
Is there any way to watch live LFC games in US, other than NBC (which is great by the way, just expensive)...?
