Earlier on today, Morgan, who had recovered from the knock against the skanks, continues his rich vein of form by scoring again in a 2-1 win against Newcastle away. Out of the mist in his long-boat has come our Adam who has a devastating left-peg, too.
I just see those kids play and desperetly want them to succeed at LFC. Specially the local lads like Morgan. Probably a Fowler v 2.0? It would be great if he was even half as good, but with that attitude.
there are some local kids who have some potential. But their ceiling? Who knows. there have been a few who have come through the Academy and done nothing.
Everton have scored two wonderful goals. 2-0 to them. Scrappy play by Liverpool, after a bright start. Again, we seem to be a level or so below Everton in terms of positional play-- they spread themselves very well and find space. We have no bodies attacking in the final third when we break, yet seem not have numbers when Everton break.
We get a gift of a penalty as the Robinson goes down, but it's saved. Justice, maybe, because that looked soft.
Half-time. I've liked Steven Irwin-- neat and tidy but he plays in a position in which there is much competition so may need to leave to get to the next stage. Central defenders are a bit dodgy, and easily flustered by the long ball. Back on. Silva comes in for Thomas.
Sprogs have come back with purpose and are reducing Everton to soft free-kicks. Some brilliant support around the box,and some intricate passing too. Suso with a great goal after some belting build-up play. The Silva just misses a chance to make it 2-2, after Liverpool carve Everton open.
63' Different team, altogether and it';s 2-2 after Robinson finds Saric in the box who scores into the far corner, a with deadly turn and shot in the box. Somehow, we are driving at those closing-down defenders, and committing some men forward. Great tactical switch by Segura.
Day and night, as we move into the fifth gear, and Silva is denied by a brilliant point-blank save. We have four genuine lefties and they are causing problems. Robinson and Flanagan have been excellent from the flanks, too.
Watching the reserves against Villa, and we are again looking ragged and clumsy. N'gog and Shelvey are in the side but we're losing 2-0 and looking dishevelled. What is it with our sides-- we're so poor on the ball, and get rushed into making poor decisions while we make other sides look like a clutch of Messis and Iniestas
You know, when I see our struggles at full-back (forcing in centre-halves), and then I see a player such as Irwin, and just wonder ...
It's hard to develop fullbacks. It's not easy. If they have more pace, more ball skills, better shooting, or better crosses, they don't usually stay at back. At least in England. As for the Reserves not holding the ball, it's not like we have dripping world class talent there.
He was playing left-back last night. Actually, he's that type of utility player who can at either full-back or in central midfield. A sort of John O'Shea but with better ball skills
The début of Flanagan must be an incentive for a number of the sprogs; they are now playing against Bolton this afternoon. I'll try and provide some commentary if the missus doesn't create a visit to Derby
Some nice football from both teams, more Bolton than us. We still are tentative in closing down the man but I wonder if Bolton can sustain this level. No goals, yet, after half an hour.
Morgan and Suso the standouts for us, but Bolton have about 6 or 7 boys who can stitch the play. Midfield for us is a bit predictable and hesitant. Give them a rocket at half-time, I say.
Some good passing and moving from Liverpool now. Bolton seem to have run out of puff. Mendy at right back looks a poor deputy for Flanagan, though.
Morgan has just scored his 12th successive goal! Liverpool have started putting the passes together and Bolton are showing the effects of all that running closing down.
