Its funny how winning changes the outlook of a manager...in the beginning of the season everyone was posting what clown and a joke brendan rodgers was as a coach...now its like brenndan is like the second coming of bill shankily...but in all fairness the players are finally buying in too his style of play and I think Gerrard accepting br's advise and playing a more defensive role really brought the other player's to accept br.
Was BR singing YNWA pregame? Does he usually do this? If so, Sunday was the first id seen a Liverpool manager do that. Maybe Kenny did, but I sure don't specifically recollect. By no means am I an authority on the subject, I just thought it was cool.
Well sung, little man!! http://www.caughtoffside.com/2014/0...hing-his-dads-winner-against-manchester-city/ Coutinho-o-o http://instagram.com/p/mw_pw1HCTb
Yeah I don't think that's the case at all. Were some still having a laugh about the Being Liverpool documentary, or Rodgers quotes that have a lot of "buzz words" in them? Sure. Don't think anyone was calling him a joke especially after the second half of last season and how we closed the the campaign out. Most predicted we'd be in the mix for 4th
Yeh going to have to politely disagree with this one. I was never posting that he was a clown especially at the beginning of this season, and didn't see to much of that from anyone. Hell almost everyone I knew had realized Rodgers had something going by the end of last season. If you couldn't see the massive improvement from August to May last season you weren't paying attention. The southern Media has tried to portray Rodgers as being under pressure from the moment he took the job, but it was never the case. I think a vast majority of Liverpool fans bought into the idea of a project, and understood that this guy HAD to be the guy. Regardless of liking him or not. Sorry don't mean to jump on you but already starting to see this narrative in the media that Liverpool fans didn't back Brendan, which suits them but isn't true.
I don't know. I'm pretty sure only myself and @ForeverRed supported BR and everyone else wanted to have him sacked. Or, at least, that's how I remember it.
Congrats on another impressive and probably decisive win on the way to the first Premier League title since a very long time! Do it for 96 ... this is your season!
I just rewatched the first 26 minutes of the game (through Skrtel's goal), and what an incredible performance it was. For the first 8 1/2 minutes of the game, City had the ball for maybe 45 seconds at most. Liverepool, meanwhile, did a bit of possession-oriented passing, but for the most part were on the front foot, regularly creating threats with lightning fast attacking combinations. Even when City began to mount occasional attacks, and even created a chance or two, Liverpool dominated possession. This is Dubai City, the best team oil billions can buy, and especially in that opening 8 1/2 minutes, they looked completely helpless. We've seen some awesome stretches of play this year. And of course City ultimately did find a way back into the game. But that opening stretch, wow, it's hard to imagine how the team could have been better.
Not everyone, Liverbird was perhaps the biggest fan and most welcoming of BR. I have trouble comprehending this..... Liverpool v Manchester City: Tickets selling for over £1,000 for crucial Premier League meeting. A ticket for the match is being sold on one site for a staggering £1,187.50. The seat in the lower tier of Centenary Stand would normally cost £52. Meanwhile, a pair of seats in the Kop are being sold on livefootballtickets.com for £1,092.50. A description that comes with the tickets promises: "Hear 'You'll Never Walk Alone' from the heart of the Kop spine tingling once in a lifetime moment for any fan". A season ticket in the stand behind the goal costs £710. I used to pay a couple of bob, maybe half a crown. At todays rate. 2 bob or 2 shillings or 20P or in funny money about 30cents Half a crown or 2/6 or 2 shillings and sixpence or 25P or about 40 cents
Out of boredom/curiosity, I went back to the managerial search thread from a few years back to see the opinions on Rodgers. While they're far from calling him a clown (as mentioned above), I'm not sure you could describe LB's opinion as "most welcoming". I realize hindsight is 20/20, and there was certainly reason to be skeptical of a manager who had a pretty scant C.V, but I was pretty amused by the posts early in the thread about how FSG had no idea what they were doing. It's a long thread, but here's the most relevant Rodgers-related stuff: https://www.bigsoccer.com/community/threads/lfc-manager-search.1944450/page-23
I was going to write a joke of a reply to 26 and say, "Heck, no one's going to go read through everyone's old posts and actually check that" Oh, how wrong I was lol
