Not only the importance of the game in terms of the title, but there's something else that is coming up which will never be forgotten. Our boys will be up for the occasion. I'm starting the 25th Anniversary thread, for those 96 fans who deserve justice and will never be forgotten, and for those new Liverpool fans or those who haven't gone into the detail of it all, I urge you to read up.
For a game like this it would be great to have it on the HD channel with just the crowd noise and no announcers
This is the first time I think Buck has an actual selection headache. Does he leave out Agger if he's fit? Which two of Sterling, Lucas, Allen and Coutinho will get the nod?
This game's important enough for Liverbird to start his walk on thursday. Just to have a game of this magnitude this late in the season...been a long time - maybe since the CL final. Heck of it is I'll probably be out reffing some U11 girls game and miss it - then have to somehow find the discipline to avoid looking up the score before watching the game on the DVR. I'm not able to do that for WHU, much less this game. GO REDS!!!!!
In what would have been a charged up environment due to the title race, adding the emotional element of Hillsborough to this match is going to blow the roof off Anfield. I'm making my prediction early as the anticipation is killing. This game will be reminiscent of the arse match - we'll be at 150 mph an hour before citeh have gotten out of park. Studge (6th minute), SG - pen (11th) with Kompany red carded for a foul on Suarez, Suarez (22nd). 3-0 to the good.
There will be a 7 minute delay in kickoff to honor the 96. The entire Liverpool section of Anfield absolutely needs to be rocking That's the sound of the boys coming up the hill
Another must win. Need to beat City to control our own destiny. Losing would almost certainly end our title hopes, and drawing would mean we'd have to rely on Everton to beat them so that we could win the title. Moral of the story, win the damn game.
Liverpool are the best team we've played. --Vincent Kompany http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/26908090
I know you mean well, its not a 7 minute delay, its a 7 minute remembrance for the 96, a 7 minute mark of respect and appreciation to those that still battle for the 96 and a 7 minute reminder that all is not lost. Let it be a delay for those running the television channels, but for us let it be a truly remarkable show of respect.
Excuse me. And frankly I resent the condescending "I know you mean well". I bow to the nuance police. Now let's all join together and remember the 96 and support the fight for Justice. And also defeat Dubai Citeh.
Just a little too high, he shouldn't have leaned back, the keeper was beaten there. Of course the keeper was freeking beaten, the ball had ice on when it came down!
I am still pissed off how we were robbed of a goal and points last time we played these guys. The linesman calls offside on Sterling who is free and going one on one with the keeper. I'm sure that twit didn't take a cut in pay or get dropped from the refs panel. Sundays Ref against WHU was a Manc, who the hell thinks that, that a good idea? If BR says anything he's questioning the impunity and impartiality of the refs.......Well, Duh!!! Important match this one so, it must be our turn for Howard Webb....... isn't it In all seriousness. (well yes, I was serious..) This is the game! This is the one that tells of who has the right to go on and win the league. Most important match for us since Istanbul. If we win all the others?!
so....do we keep Lucas in the team who has historically played very well against Citeh (and Yaya Toure or Toure Yaya as the shirt says) - or do let Coutinho keep starting in the expectation that this will be a more open game with space for him to create? the rest of the team seems to pick itself - the only question becomes formation - diamond or 4-3-3
At home I say we try to outscore them in a goalfest. City have the balls to play us in an open game, I think our best shot is a 3-2/4-3 kind of game. Of course that doesn't mean I don't wanna see another 3/4-0, I just don't think we'll be able to get the clean sheet.
Can it be Sunday yet? ******** I am nervous already and it's only Monday. Biggest match since Athens '07, in reality biggest since Istanbul. We win we are the favorites, and the best team in the league at the moment. Lose and it's hard work.
