If it's true, I'll probably show up. Still sad I missed Réal Madrid live.

Based on recent form, it might end 0-0.

If this were a champions league game, both teams would win.
If this were a regular-season game, both teams would lose.
Not sure what happens with friendlies.

If it's the Carlsberg Cup game, then it presumably would go to penalty kicks after 90 minutes, which is what the Carlsberg Cup match against Bolton did in 2010.

I guess you missed my joke - I was commenting on the fact that both Liverpool and TFC tend to do well on champions league, but not so well in the regular season.

Really having shard time corroborating that LFC tends to do well in Champions League......need a Delorean time machine to go back a few years. ;)

Another useless exhibition game in the middle of the season. Who needs it?

The rumour is gaining steam. July 21 seems to be banded about.

the only way the roger's centre isn't embarrassing to play at on turf, is if it's sold out, and there's no way it's going to. we played real madrid at BMO

I think TFC v LFC draws around 40k to Roger's Centre....which probably makes it economical to bring in grass and probably limits the number of $140 - $200 (something that can't be said about bringing this level of team to BMO Field).

I'm pretty sure they can get 40K for L'pool at SkyDome. though it would be more fun at BMO.

that's really what it hinges on, i have no issue with roger's centre as a facility (which is why the jays seem committed to getting real grass in the near future, rather than the clusterfuck of trying to get a new stadium in toronto.)

    Looking forward to this game..if it happens..but why rogers center? they cant use weather as an excuse like the LA CCL match, which was a piss poor excuse considering how nice it was that day!! But having Liverpool back will be great..:}

    Try this....economics?

To pay Liverpool and make a profit (which they will want to do) the ticket prices at BMO Field would have to be in the range of what the Real Madrid tickets were.

With Roger's Centre, there are more tickets available and even though there still will be tickets in the $150 range they will be able to afford selling some of the lesser seats in the $20 - $25 range and make economic sense of the match.

But Liverpool being Liverpool..they could charge Real Madrid prices and still fill BMO...lots of Liverpool fans here...the fact BMO has grass would
impress LFC as opposed to playing and risking injury on plastic..

Re: Liverpool FC to play TFC in July

I am sure they could fill BMO....but the numbers make more sense, with that sort of higher profile club, to have 50k seats charge a little bit less (on average...the good seats will still be expensive) and make more money...enough, even, to cover temporary grass - as was the case the last time LFC played at the Dome.

I'm sure it will happen. Ticketmaster is already advertising, and the tickets go on general sale in less than 24 hours.

    Kick-off at 4 pm.

Tickets ranging from $59 - $159.....no "love" from TFC to the season ticket holders with a presale?

Is this club intentionally burning up 5 years of goodwill so they can start over next year?

Who says their won't be a presale? Presumably this would be done inside Account Manager. Heck, who even says that STH will have to pay?

Ticketmaster has now removed this. Someone goofed ...

Now that it is removed it is moot....but if tickets were going on sale to the general public tomorrow at 10...any pre-sale would have to have been announced by now.

I thought you were smarter than to suggest that STH might get this for free? :)

That was based on the general admission ticket sales starting at 10 AM today.

As they cancelled the general ticket sale, then all bets are off.

Also, we've learned since, that this event isn't being done by MLSE, but is being done by Rogers. Which would make it a lot more difficult for them to provide free tickets to STH - unless they really feel the need to apologize with real $ for the way the season has gone.
