check out our latest match analysis on the Liverpool / Arsenal game this weekend: http://viewfromthedugout.com/liverpool-5-1-arsenal-liverpool-press-win-midfield-battle/
So what happened in the FA Cup? Why couldn't they recreate that success? Stats can be useful, but you have to use the right ones, interpret them correctly, and compare/contrast to see if it applies to the rest of the games. What is the norm and what is an anomaly? If that is the formula to beat Arsenal, how come no one else has figured it out? The main relevant stat is regarding finishing. Liverpool did not finish in the FA Cup and they did in the league game.
I don't disagree with you, correct, you have to use the correct stats, and the stats that made the difference in the league game was Liverpool's pressing, dominance in midfield and yes their finishing. I didn't say that was the formula to beat Arsenal, simply that was what worked for Liverpool during that game. Also, maybe it was an off day from Arsenal's midfielders in terms of their intensity and work rate. It was analysis on one game and how Liverpool beat Arsenal that day.
Hehehe... No you both wrong. Liverpool deep down wanted to lose (and they did) so that the top three have more trophies to distract them, so that they (liverpool) can sneak up on them(the top 3) unawares and snatch the EPL, when they (the top 3) least expected. . They sacrificed a lesser trophy to get the bigger one.
