    Chicago left Carr unprotected?? Wow.

I'd definitely pick him up if I'm Toronto.

    Same with Adrian Serioux.

You realize you have 8 SI's/senior roster Americans there when Toronto only has 7, and might bring in new foreigners too? Not gonna happen.

Well, yeah. Not every player will be kept. Most will be trade bait. I also have like 5 defenders on there and TFC just signed two and will probably go after Gervais. I just looked at who the best picks were per team. I'm sure you could also go through and select the best developmental signings, as well.

Out of curiosity, who would you pick?

    CHI: Jaqua
    CHV: Borja (DEV)
    COL: Petke
    CLB: Cameron (DEV)
    DAL: Pitchkolan (DEV)
    DC: Simms
    HOU: Serioux
    KC: none
    LA: Veris (DEV)
    NE: Larentowicz (DEV)
    NY: Buddle
    RSL:

Why not take a shot at an unsigned player like Jaqua? They might as well. Johnston likes Buddle a lot, so that seems like a good guess. His salary isn't that high either.

Because it's a wasted pick. He's gone to Europe and will likely sign with a Scandanavian club. However, I doubt they go after that many developmental players. Better to pick up great players, and then trade what you can't keep or don't want.

That he's bounced around a lot, sure. But I'm not sure he's the type of player Mo is looking for. And while his salary isn't a burden, IIRC he's around $90k which isn't exactly a steal by MLS standards either.

    (by team):

    Chicago: Jaqua, Nate
    Chivas USA: O'Brien, John
    Colorado: Kirovski, Jovan (Trade Bait)
    Columbus: Cameron, Knox
DC: Rimando, Nick (GK) (Trade Bait)
    FCD: Gbandi, Chris
Houston: Serioux, Adrian (Biggest Slam Dunk Pick)
KC: Watson, Lance (Cut Afterwards) or Pass
    LA: Martino, Kyle
    NE: Riley, James
    NYRB: Buddle, Edson (Trade Bait)
    RSL: Akwari, Nelson

Rimando, Kirovski and Buddle in some combination end up as part of a deal with Houston for Onstad and others. Onsatd, Houston will talk about moving. No way any deal is made for DeRo.

They can't probably can't keep all 10 players anyway. Plus, they get his rights for two years if he decides to come back.

Jaqua and Martino are likely to get signed overseas. They'd be wasted picks. According to Buzz at 3rdDegree, TFC wants either Onstad or Rimando, so I don't see why they would trade Rimando away if or when they select him.

So you would rather take the risk and hope you can get him back in two years or that he doesn't sign overseas? Seems unnecessary to me. Why not get Brian Plotkin? He's developmental and has shown promise.

Don't forget any of the players selected that are currently on teams DV rosters must be signed to TFC's senior roster.

    Why can't they stay DEV?

I don't really understand Houston keeping Serioux off the protected list - presumably Toronto would have wanted to trade for him. Also, he seems like a very useful player to me.

But now they know Toronto won't be picking any of their other guys.

Yes. He was born in Toronto, and thus is automatically a Canadian citizen.

i don't think buddle will get drafted.
i would take o'rourke off that list, assuming health and contract are in good order.

I think Serioux to Toronto was a forgone conclusion. I think they pretty much decided that they were willing to let him go in the expansion draft if they got to keep everyone else.

Taking info from various threads and lining them up in a 4-4-2 you get

    ----???????-----???????---
    Brennan-DeRosario-O’Brien
    ----------Serioux------------
    ??????--Reda-Braz-Pozniak
    -----------Sutten---------------

*I may not have the defenders in the right positions, but bear with me.

*3rd Degree has the O’Brien-for-an-allocation (+passing in the expansion draft) rumor.

*I’ll assume that they move heaven and hell for DeRosario

*And Serioux is the obvious pick.

So far, they have used only one SI. They need to pick up another defender, two forwards, and the rest is depth.

    Chicago: Calen Carr
    Chivas USA: Estuardo Sanchez
    Colorado: Mike Petke
    Columbus: Ryan Coiner
DC: Brandon Prideaux (maybe Rod Dyachenko)
    FCD: None
    Houston: Adrian Serioux
    KC: None
    LA: Alan Gordon
NE: Jose Cancela (maybe James Riley)
    NYRB: Edson Buddle
RSL: Jay Nolly (maybe Andy Williams but not both Williams and Cancela)

They need to pick up one or two defenders: Petke and Prideaux
Take a chance on midfield talent: Cancela or Williams
Pick a bunch of forwards and see who sticks: Carr, Sanchez, Coiner, Gordon, Buddle

I haven’t looked at salary cap implications yet, but doesn’t seem too expensive. Also haven’t though through SI/YI implications, but they won’t keep all the forwards anyway.

If I HAD to pick one from each team, and a starting 11...

    -------------Burpo---------------
    -----Pierce---Petke---John-----
    --------O'Rourke------Serioux------
    Williams----------------------DeRoux
    ----Carr----------------Mina---- (sub: Wahl)
    -------------Gordon------------

This is completely second-hand info and also gossip. But....from a credible soccer media person, TFC is supposed to have decided to bypass all but 2-4 players in the expansion draft. You know how with an MLS waiver draft, almost all of the players get bypassed and no-one picks them up? Well, what what I heard was that TFC had decided that it couldn't build a team through the expansion draft and didn't want to waste roster and especially cap space on a lot of Americans so the decision was to pick up any available Canadians and perhaps 1-2 Americans who were a combination of player Mojo really likes and a good cap bargain. IF this is true (and it's a big "if") than that means the vast majority of the players exposed won't be picked.
