As long as Anzhi exists no one is past their sell date.

However I couldn't imagine another CL team taking him on.

Also, apparently the Malaysian owners of Cardiff City want to change the colors of the "Bluebirds" to red. Because it's more appealing in Asia....

    All about the benjamins..

According to ESPN's bottom line, Puyol is out for 6 weeks [cant recall specific injury]. He's obviously done for the Euro's. I wonder how much that will affect Spain.

Apparently the bookies have Germany very close to Spain now, if not even.

I wish anybody would be give me some insights to this about the Blackburn Rovers problems. Just a brief thing of what the problem is. The things that I understand is that the owners do not have any interest in the club and jitty I think posted something a while ago about a detailed report of their fraud. Keane seems he is like behind all this and the letter which comes from the "CEO" is desperate and really cares about the club. I want Blackburn to go down and the owners to fail as well as Keane but I feel for the fans. If anybody can give me a small simplistic breakdown of what is going on from the financial/behind the door stuff it would really help, thanks.

Oh, I wasn't aware of that. Hopefully the new manager will still be interested in taking United kids on loan.

I think it is a great place there for United youngsters because other United players are there and they have a relatively young squad with a good potential.

gotcha. man i really miss the mutli quote option unless i have passed it by on this new setup so far lol

didn't quite realize how awful they were at PKs this season. don't buy the woodwork being hit 586 times stat either. it is not bad luck. at some point hitting the woodwork over and over just means they have poor finishing. if the 5/6 pks missed is true then it only further adds to that

I heard a stat somewhere that Suarez alone has it the wood work 30 times this year.

Aye... he's trying to put the final touches on his dam and needs that pesky piece of woodwork to finish the job.

I can't find the initial material James + CR7 told me about but here is some wild speculation.

    1. The 'Fake Sheik' Scam
    • Venkys buy BR for 23m cash. The club has assets, cashflow but 20m of debt and loses money. Seems a bad deal?
    • Venkys must repay BR's long term bank debt + overdraft = 20m. Everyone assumes this will be done via cash injection.
    • Venkys proceed to flog off players. 10m debt is repaid.
    • Barclay's get nervous. By selling Samba to Russia, Venky's clear the 10m overdraft.
    • BR get relegated. More players are cleared out.
    • Venkys now own a club free of debt, with physical assets and access to 48m in parachute payments in the next years.
    • Venkys real exposure to Rovers? None. Their 23m investment is secured against the assets and parachutes. And how much of the 100m TV money + players sales has been skimmed off to date?
    • Cut throat variation: Run up massive debts to HMRC and anyone else you can think of - thus freeing up cashflow for you and your mates
    • Scottish variation: Sell all the clubs future revenue to clear the secured creditor, then liquidate with yourself as the only secured creditor
    • Russian Roulette Variation: Sheik puts a loaded gun to his own head in the form of a 18m loan from his mates. Sheik pulls the trigger. His mates clean up
    • Macau Variation: Convince idiots to stump up acquisition cash on the Hong Kong stock market.
    • Ponzi variation: Lose money wildly onshore whilst trading all your games offshore
    2. The Fixer (as seen at Portsmouth!)
    • Agent seems a nice opportunity to asset strip a club. The club has nice assets, strong cash flow, but loses money
    • Key idea: Instal straw man owners (the fake sheik) to front the deal, while the real operators go to work. Because the club has conservative owners, Craig Whyte won't do - you have to source a 'proper' owner.
    • Pitch Venkys on the can't lose proposition & connect them with the owners
    • After the sale, ensure that all the real executives & directors are sidelined, and instal your own man (SK) as head honcho - now you can get down to business.
    • Churn the club's player assets wildly, making cuts of the agents commissions on both sides of the deal. Make sure agents commissions are wildly inflated.
    • After a sale (and cut of the fee) immediately spend the money on another crazy deal, like a 4m player of which 3m is commission. Split the brown paper bags.
    • Congratulations! After your 'consultancy' BR is ready for relegation, and you made millions! Maybe you can even pin all the blame on the Fake Sheik!

Yes. Although they also churned a lot of that money. We need to see the published accounts.

Unfortunately papers like the Guardian continue to publish myths about football despite their readers trying to educate them.

People equate losses in the company shell to losses for the owners / operators but of course this is not true.

The usual losers are the taxpayers and trade creditors, and of course the fans who are the source of cash.

So basically, the Venky's stole money from the club but lying saying they are injecting cash into the club, they did the opposite. They installed Kean as part of the deal, and they do not care how the team performs as long as they get their money from TV rights, and cover the debts so they can make the extra cash. I wont' be surprised if they are still in the team to see BR in the League 1 division. Hunt just got fired today also, I think that is good for him, I would not want to be associated with the club if I were him. Since he was not at fault, finding another job should be alright I believe.

On my iPad, so copying and pasting some of this is difficult right now. Maybe someone could help me out?

Check the comments section on this article. The stuff from reg rover specifically. He was the one who posted the original stuff cr7 and I gave to jitty. A lot of this has been kept out of the big boy media groups, but the lancashire times have covered it extensively. Gives you a few more of the key names, such as Anderson. Veer sketchy, the entire thing. I will hunt out more later for you jitty.

The whole Venky's/Blackburn fiasco just illustrates how illiterate and helpless governing bodies are when it comes to financial sorcery.

Well its not stealing because they own it.

But it is dishonest with the customers. This sort of thing was very common in the 80s

And here is the crux of it, making a huge effort to prove immense wrong doing.

    That too. :D

They could at least do a better job of appearing to care though.
