Municipal and Comunicaciones will play in the newly formed Copa Fraternidad along with the other Central American giants. Funny, I proposed this a few months ago and was laughed at by y'all. All games will be played in the U.S. Consider it a mini Gold Cup. I think it's a great idea, it'll bring in extra revenue to the clubs and maybe some players will get scouted. http://www.produccionesdeportivas.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3639:municipal-y-comunicaciones-jugarian-la-copa-fraternidad-junto-a-equipos-de-centroamerica-&catid=53:slides http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/videohub/video/clipDeportes?id=1978109&cc=3888
Yes, this tournament would be a new version of the old Copa Fraternidad (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copa_Interclubes_UNCAF). I like the proposed format. At worst it should give domestic players the much needed international experience.
Narco Heredia beats Cremas 2-0 at home with their second goal being clearly offside. The return leg is at Cremas and will be highly contested. On the one hand I despise Heredia and their owner for his dirty filth but on the other hand they ARE challenging the top two and forcing them to improve.
That documentary is great and so are all the others from ESPN 30 for 30. When is the 2nd leg for the final?
Yeah it looks offside. Either way, Miranda gets the assist. I criticized him a couple tournaments back because I thought ge didn't pass the ball enough and not very well, but he has gotten a lot better and he has basically been the best domestic player of this tournament.
This video shows that the alleged offside on Heredia's 2nd goal is not evident, so i think the referees should be off the hook.
That's crazy because it looked way offside live. Even the commentators after several replays thought it was offside.
Hahahaha. Up 3 goals and Heredia pisses away the championship. I consider it karma for all the points they bought to get there but wow epic ******** up by Heredia's goalie for getting red carded with no subs left! Robin Betancourth stepped up big time but it wasn't meant to be.
Also, Nacho Campollo is terrible. A broomstick would have scored at least one goal from all the chances he wasted. Now we see why he didn't make it in Chile. Maybe Marquense would want him back.
Betancourth did everything he could to win heredia that final saved two penalties and scored one himself..felt so sorry for him ne of the few players that could hold his head up high
Just going on pure soccer alone, this was one of the best games I've seen play the Guatemalan league. Fast paced, technical, open space passing, smart sound play, multiple scoring chances, etc. Everything I have NOT seen in any Guatemalan team, including the NT. From what you guys are saying, Heredia's front office may not be all clean and sparkly. But again, on pure soccer alone, their team is definitely making these other top flight teams look like chumps, and giving them a run for their money. Hell, I haven't see Moyo play the way he did in that final since the U-23 team. I honestly feel like that final may have helped our teams and players moving into the right direction. Just wish we could do it with more local players instead of old washed up extranjeros.
speaking of old washed up extranjeros, Coatepeque(?) is in negotiations with Julio Cesar Rambo De Leon.

There is a lot to be said about the 2014 Clausura tournament and 2013-14 season, including the manifestations of violence which have worsened, to the extent having a person killed yesterday. There are individuals everywhere who bully and insult others to channel their inner rage and frustrations, including those that they somehow experience through following a sports team. Unfortunately in Guatemala there is no restraint, no sorrow, no mercy, and no remorse, and these individuals continue to live their lives unpunished the next day. I don't understand it, I love sports, and all they give me is joy. Maybe those manifestations connected with liking a certain team and disliking another, are what has gotten me away from rooting for one team, to now just watch and enjoy whatever the sporting event has to offer. .... On the positive side, this tournament has been one of the most interesting one in recent years, with CD Heredia winning the qualification stage (and thus home field advantage thru playoffs - return leg at home on every round) while collecting only 36 points in 22 matches (lowest points total I can find in a 22-match stage, all time). This was based on 10 victories and 3.17 GF/M on 11 matches at home and only 5 points out of 11 matches on the road. Comunicaciones were in the lead a couple of weeks, and the rest of the time, Universidad (most of the tournament), Suchitepéquez, Xelajú, and the aforementioned Heredia were in command of the top positions. Coatepeque made a magnificent run on the Clausura half of the season, to also challenge the top spots themselves, and to avoid relegation within the last five minutes of play in the regular season, on a free kick by Mexican star striker Agustín Herrera, perhaps the most valuable player of the tournament. Mictlán and Iztapa relegated. What happened to the Cremas fan is extremely unfortunate. Even worse is that nothing will be done. The country is desensitized to violence and those in charge of futból there lack the leadership, courage and will to aggressively address the problem. That includes Brayan Jimenez, Gerardo Villa and Pedro Portilla.
