After 2 rounds, Comunicaciones and Suchi take the lead with two wins each. Coincidentally they both beat the new teams Iztapa and Coatepeque respectively, 1-0, this weekend. Both Iztapa and Coatepeque are yet to score in the tournament. Marco Ciani has one assist and one goal, both from free kicks, on the 2 goals Municipal has scored in the tournament. Last night Marquense beat Halcones 4-1 with a 100% Chapín lineup. Kevin Norales scored a beautiful goal from a header off a cross by 25-year old midfielder Jonathan Pérez who seems like a pretty interesting player: But the crazy headers don't stop there. Check out "El Chalupa" López' one from outside the penalty area!:
This guy puts up good video summaries of the games. Good channel to subscribe to. http://www.youtube.com/user/videosguatedeportes?feature=watch
The simple fact that these old crappy players have flooded the league shows that the league doesn't give a sh*t about our countries players. It'd be one thing if these players were still good, but they're crappy and slow. Which then makes everyone else crappy and slow. So how can the few national players get any better if they're playing such crappy talent? It's not wonder our players abroad go to 3rd and 4th tier teams if they're playing at such a poor level in their own country with no chance of that changing.
No such thing as a commissioner in the LNF. The president is Alfonso Cruz Berganza, since 2008. http://gt.linkedin.com/pub/alfonso-cruz/56/722/950 Our guys don't go abroad because we don't produce enough international-class players, not because teams bench national players. Sequén had a suspension coupled with health issues, that's why he lost continuity. Not sure about the other two but it's not like they've been tearing it up for a couple of years to deserve to be looked at by international teams. The sad reality. The Guatemalan football system has not been producing players who can sustain a top-class level for more than a few months. You are correct, the League and the Fedefut do not work together. I see a lot of young crappy and slow players too, all the time.
I wonder why people don't give this guy Alfonso Cruz Berganza more sh*t. With all the violence, decreasing league attendance and dumb moves by front offices that weaken our national team. I think our teams don't produce enough international-class players AND coaches bench national players. Yes, Sequen had health issues (which he has fully recovered from) but even before them Municipal went out and crowded the midfield with the acquisition of Jonathan Lopez and Jean Patrick Howell. Completely unnecessary when the kid had held down the midfield like a veteran, I just hope he regains his starting spot. Victor Avila was the 2nd best goalkeeper of last season, earned callups against Belize and Argentina, and he gets benched for some random old Honduran. Headscratcher. Look at Wilber Perez' stats, he was a boss last season. Municipal even put in a bid for him that Suchi rejected. Then he gets benched for some Argentinian guy, granted the guy is doing well, but I don't see the reasoning behind it. That's 3 guys that could be important part of the next qualifying cycle having their careers fvcked with for no apparent reason.
Donaldo Morales: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donaldo_Morales I see he was a decent goalkeeper for Motagua, but it wasn't a position of need for Malacateco. They conceded the second fewest goals last season with Ayala. Just a dumbass move if you ask me.
I was sad to see him leave Motagua.. great season last season, but at the same time it opened up GK competition and let one of our younger GKs get some playing time instead this Apertura.
And that's exactly what his acquisition takes away over here. We had a 24 year old GK performing and now he's benched. This mistake is on Comunicaciones too because Ayala is on loan to Malacateco. They should have loaned him to a side where he would get PT this season. Just a series of people making dumb ass moves and in the end the player is the loser.
Comunicaciones beat Municipal 1-0 in the Clasico #275 on Sat. night, making it 5 straight wins for them for the first time in the rivalry's history. Wilson Lalín with the goal, and JJ Paredes man of the match. In Coatepeque the referee called an unusual 2 indirect free kicks inside the penalty area, one for each team, as the locals recovered from a 0-2 to a 3-3. Jesús Navas (not the Spaniard, but the Honduran midfielder) scored a golazo against the U with a rocket in the 86th minute to make it a 3-1 away win for Suchi [5:48]:
Half of the qualifying stage of the Apertura 2013 tournament is gone, with Comunicaciones strong in the lead 4 points above Municipal and 7 points above Heredia. Not many of surprises, the 2 big teams at the top, and the rest behind, with only 5 points of difference currently between 3rd and 10th place. Debutants Coatepeque and Iztapa with problems at the bottom, the former still winless but with a solid fan base. IMO, 3 national players stand out so far during the tournament: Osmar "Chalupa" López (Heredia): The 25-year old attacker has scored 7 goals (half of his team's total), leading the individual chart, and matching his total from the previous 4 tournaments. Brayan "Batigol" Ordóñez (Comunicaciones): The diminutive 23-year old winger has scored 12 league goals in 1856 minutes played in the last 2 tournaments, including 4 during the present one. He has done great as a sub and provided a lot of danger in the otherwise average Comunicaciones attacking line. Yimi "El Neymar" Villatoro (Coatepeque): The local 21-year old has given a lot of hope to a team that had promised a lot but that is struggling. He has scored 5 league goals (2nd among Guatemalan players), including both in a pretty impressive 2-2 draw obtained in Morales vs Heredia, and this golazo against Xela today [2:43]:
Alejandro Galindo "El Parcerito" could play tomorrow for Municipal at Malacateco. His situation is pretty unique, having played for the National Team before ever playing professionally in a Guatemalan club. http://antorchadeportiva.com/alejan...rce=AntorchaDeportiva.Com&utm_medium=facebook
They did beat Iztapa today 2-1 to earn their first ever win in the top flight. Alejandro Galindo played the 2nd half today in Municipal's 2-0 road win in Malacatán. Cremas-Heredia 22:00 EDT should be a good game.
Shit is getting out of hand. First Titiman Avila gets punched in Mazatenango and now this. I hope to be wrong, but at this rate, one day a footballer will be carried out of the pitch dead. The LNF must be held accountable for not making teams provide basic security. I hope Comunicaciones and Wilson Lalín take legal action against the Coatepeque team administration, as well as the league's. SNAFU, some will say, but I rather Guatemala not have professional football, if among the few "fans" that attend the games are a bunch of vandals ready to injure someone.
