From a football standpoint, it would be a lose-lose situation. Mexican clubs would lose the chance to test themselves against high level competition, and Libertadores would lose some good competitive clubs. I hope it doesn't happen, but if they don't want to come, the show will go on.

I don't mind. The Libertadores needs to be an all Conmebol competition just like how the Copa America should. The only time I won't mind Mexico or any other team from another federation participating in our tournaments is if they join us all together, meaning participating in our qualifiers also.

With all due respect to Mexico its too much of a luxury for them to compete in our tournaments and still get a free ride to the World Cup every 4 years.

I do mind. I don`t like them competing as "guests"
But agree completely on the rest.
Imo, if Mexico wants to feel themselves as being a part of our tournaments, they should come and compete at all levels within it, join Conmebol and quit from Concacaf. Then they could play and even host every Conmebol tournament as any of its members could do so.
It would create a mess for WC qualifiers though, but I still think this option would be preferable.

On another issue, if Mexico quits now as how things are today, they will create a bad precedent on future acceptance in our tournaments, as in the beginings of their participation within it, it created lots of resistance within some Conmebol members, and many till now, are still against it. I think if it does happen, from now on, Mexico shouldn`t be allowed to participate in any Conmebol tournaments, ever again. They are only thinking on their behalf, without giving any respect to those who oposed them from the begining and weren`t listened, creating divissions in Conmebol, to favour Mexico, and now they decide to quit. (Mexico`s whole atitude, makes us all look as "dopes" for the rest of the world, and francly, we don`t deserve that sort of image now or for the future).

This is very similar, to the USA invitation for Copa America, to see them afterwards bringing to it, their "C, D or E" team downgrading the whole tournament. First they plea to be accepted, and when accepted, they turn their backs to it.

We deserve to have more respect from others, and more important, on ourselves.
