OK, there's a lot of whining going on right now, and that's to be expected, but I thought I'd start a thread of improvements to BSXenForo where there's only constructive criticism. vBulletin was broken, and I fully admit to loving vBulletin, and like it or not, BS is what it is. To wit: Can we bring back the Multi-quote function? One thing I always liked about the user block was the Member Since feature. More than Club Supported or the old green nipples, knowing how long someone had been on BS helped me gauge their posting activity.
Figured it out. Should have read the handbook..... Not as nice as the previous version, but clicking "reply" on all the posts you want to quote will bring up the text.
Ability to edit posts would be nice. Currently the time limit is set to zero minutes. Also, the ability to edit your 'Watched Forums' list.
The signature font should be readily distinguished from the text font: smaller, lighter and so on. And the divider between the text and the signature should be more obvious: darker, heavier and so on.
You can change your signature font and color. Click on your member name above and you'll get a drop down pane. Signature is the second item on the left.
How about highlighting links in some way so they look different from the text around it? I eventually figured out that with a mouseover the link reveals a drop shadow, but it seems better if you know just by looking where the link is. (For example, there's a link in this post...)
You can improve this site by returning to the previous, much better, layout. Bring back the Spy, archive; ability to disable avatars and see links, time of post and quote button without having to mouse over it. There needs to be better definition to distinguish posts, quotes and sigs. Just a terrible, drab, new look. Major step backwards.
I liked the previous feature where by looking at an avatar you could at least tell if someone has contributed a certain amount here, by the (+), (++) and (+++) next to names. Now you have no way of telling someones reputation over another unless you start clicking on avatars. And what happens when your posts get repped? Does it now add to a rep bar which will start from scratch for everyone? Don't like how from looking at avatars there's no visible different between say Sidefootsitter with 20K+ posts, and a noob.
It isn't just a matter of fonts - all the lines are too thin and light. None of the borders are visible enough. I keep getting confused that the area that allows you to post is actually the last post in the thread. Also: - I don't like the icons in the forum lists of threads. It's not so important to know who created the thread that the threads all look messy. - Animated icons don't work. I demand to have my flowing cape back. - I don't like how so many buttons are shaded until you mouse over them. - The name of the person being quoted should be bolded. - I have to log in every time I visit the site. Very annoying.
I am looking for this feature as well. I used a custom setting for this with the previous system, I think it was the max of 40. Change is never easy and considering the massive changes that this upgrade involved I think things have gone well. Thanks BS.
