If its okay with the mods! We got a tv thread which is pretty vague and the only close thing is the offtopic.

Anyways, i watched terminator salvation the other day, i wasn't disappointed but i wasn't satisfied either, it was a bit neutral for me. The film itself was like watching a tv episode or something.

I've pretty much seen every movie there is to see out there today :D

I just saw Harry Potter: sucked.

    Transformers was pretty good.

    Hangover was epic.

Re: Let's go to the Movies - Watched/Seen/ Discuss Thread

Yeah, I'm a movie guy as well so this thread is for me.

Best movie I've seen this year is
State Of Play: A human movie, no effects, great acting, interesting plot twists, see it.

Bruno: Crazy, cringeworthy, I watched most of it through my hands and fingers....funny in spots, but if you are squeamish, stay away.

Terminator: eh, I agree it was a little too cheesy, the acting a bit 'robotic". One of the great things about the first and second was the aspect of human vs. robot, feelings vs. no feelings...they didn't capture that here.

Hangover: Hilarious, don't have one bad thing to say about it.

Transformers: These movies have no soul, all effects, weak....and I loved some transformers as a kid.

Year One: watched it with my 15 year-old nephew because we enjoy catching goofy movies (like Ferrell flicks)...interesting, some laughs but really slow moving. Sluggish, though the likable actors pull it off a lot of the time. Basically its like a history of the world.

Star Trek: was SICK, and I've never been a Trekkie. They did everything right to me. Zoe Saldana is my girl!

Wolverine: Was also good, a bit slow at times, but as an old school X-Men nerd, I was into it.

Adventureland: Cool movie, teen angst/love/drama all of that at a cheesy amusement park. Funny stuff, good cast.

Observe and Report; This was a crazy movie, anyone see it? Its not your typcial comedy, uniquely dark.

I still want to see Public Enemies, and 500 days of Summer. Not much of a Potter guy.
Movies are getting too damned expensive, though.

The guy who did Terminator Salvation should be hanged to death. How can they do such a monster from such a legend. It's like a horrible TV episode of the cheap Terminator series.

I also watched Wolverine and Watchmen. Horrible both too.

I endedup skipping blood last vampire to watch Little miss march and if you watched hangover, this film is about 5 times funnier and more nudier than hangover. I laughed to bits. Really funny.

Gonna watch soloist and blood last vampire next.

Miss. March, is it the same one with that guy "horsedick.mpeg"? It was funny. But the best i've seen all summer is hangover followed closely by star trek.

Transformers was not very good. I didn't like it that much. It was no where near as good as the first one.

Star trek was really well made. I'm a bit of a trekkie myself and i really liked it.

Terminator was pretty bad. I was hoping it would be good but it was a let down.

Hangover was the one movie i would suggest to anyone. It was hilarious. I watched it with some friends and we were rolling over laughing.

well i ended up skipping public enemies to watch blood the last vampire.

The movie had the potential but it sucked big time, it would have been better if they spoke in japanese instead of english (which was like zinaldo level!).

i'll probably watch public enemies tonight.

Public Enemies was okay imo. Johnny Depp was fantastic as always but Bale was really meh for me.

Yeah, something about the previews seemed meh to me too. I'll watch it, just maybe on dvd.

Saw a good indie flick the other day, The Edge Of Heaven. Turkish man living in Germany kills a prositute that he's asked to live with him, then his son sets off to find the woman's daughter in Turkey, in order to make amends for his father. Good movie all around.

Hearing great things about 500 Days Of Summer.

I'm going to watch Sukiyaki Western Django in the next few days.Same thing here, Japanese actors, English language.I am not particularly excited about it (not as excited as i was about Crows Zero), but whatever.

I will attempt to watch it with the original voice track, and if i can't take it, i might switch to the German dubbed track, which is perfectly spoken.

The movie is certainly interesting. Its quite a different take on two genres that aren't entirely that different, American Westerns and Japanese period pieces. It has a cameo from my favorite writer, I think his name is Ringo in the film.

If you enjoy this movie and have a strong appetite for gore check out another film by Miike, Ichi the Killer.

I watched Ichi and felt like grabbing a paper bad a few times.
I still watched it to the end though and though it was interesting. That's quite disturbing if you think about it.

Haha I had the same feeling watching the movie. It wasn't a bad movie by any means just a little much even for someone as desensitized as me.

If you can, try to check out Tokyo Zombie. It has that same Japanese-esque humor from Ichi except with zombies.

My roommate sophomore year made me watch it, promising everything I'd ever wanted in a film. I was disappointed. Also the gore looked really fake.

You're talking about Ichi right? I can definitely see how someone couldn't like the film. After watching it the first time my immediate reaction was , "Well, that was average." Are you a fan of the style Japanese cinema brings with the spraying blood and spraying blood? If not I can understand how it wouldn't be quite as appealing.

Oh and to anyone thats seen Bruno, please tell me your thoughts. I value everyone's opinion on here and I wonder if any of you got the same feeling that I did about the movie.

Yeah I can't say I'm a fan of Japanese cinema. More happy to stick with what I know, ie. Gladiator, Troy, etc.

My gf and I saw Bruno 2 weekends ago. She was outraged and disgusted, but I thought it was hilarious. I laughed almost the entire time through, because despite its taste in its sources for comedy and the continual homoerotic themes, it still makes people laugh. I couldn't control myself when they were on the talk show, nor in the hotel room watching Herr Magoo's Wunder Emporium. The Mexican "chairs" (played by actors) was also hilarious and Paula Abdul's reacton was priceless. Mel Gibson being addressed to as Mein Fuhrer was also greeted by a chorus of giggling and laughter during the movie. Granted, people did walk out, but people walked out of No Country for Old Men, Transformers 2, and Brokeback Mountain. My philosophy? If you're going to set aside time and pay money for you and a loved one/date/forum sock puppet to watch a ********ing movie, at least get your money's worth.

For those who haven't seen it, if you don't mind a hard-R rating and strong sexual elements, you will definitely enjoy it.

I'd have to agree with your view on Bruno. Borat is a far better film but Bruno certainly isn't terrible.

I just say Funny People today. I had heard a lot of not-so-great things about it but I was thoroughly surprised. As with the other two Judd Apatow movies theres always that underlying message thats sandwiched between all the comedy and crude jokes. This one has that and a little more. Its certainly funny but can't hold a candle to 40 year-old Virgin and Knocked Up. It does tell a more gripping story with good character development. Give it a go.

I agree. Watched it today, loved it. Its like you said, not knock out funny like Judd earlier's movies, but its not supposed to be. Apatow apparently really wanted to make this movie, to give an insight into comedians and their lives. Very good movie for my money. Jason Schwartzman is my dude. And Leslie Mann, lordy lord, I'd love to hang out with that woman.

Nice, I really want to see that as well.

I'm also pretty amped for Shutter Island. Like seeing Scorcese do something a little different.

Likewise about Shutter Island. It looks genuinely creepy. Like you said its good to see Scorsese do something a bit different.

Are you excited for Inglorious Basterds, NateNate? I know I am. :D
