I was thinking more like Meara Barklage, Conde, Marquez, Pearce Solli/Lade, Dax, Lindpere/Lade Henry, Cooper, Le Toux
I think it's a great trade, i like LeToux, he is a very versatile player, but it's kinda sad to see Dane leaving, i remember few weeks ago Dane saying how bad he wanted to win the MLS Cup with the Red Bulls but now seem like it will never happen Good luck to him and thanks for his service. I think we still need a midfielder now, a hard-worker, we can't count only on Dax, if only Tainio could get better...
Great move as Metz as said Richards was being passed by by MLS standards basically. Now when Henry sits or Coop needs a rest we losin nothing. teaming Henry with fellow frech guy shoul dreally push him as Letoux can be like Rodgers, only better. Guess Luke is history for this year. Now lets get us a real DP mid playmaker and we will have option sto attach from any 442 or 433 or any formation. Nice move.
Nah, ...You aren't even close.... MearaHolgerslush....Marquez....Conde....PearceMcCartyBarka....Le Toux....LindpereCooper....Henry That will be the new line-up, until they sign the new striker, Le-Toux will be our CAM this year..... and who knows, maybe next too....... Henry like you must suspect will be a officially our Part Time player and Le-Tux will sub for him when he get absent, playing Ballouchy or Solli as CAM always when this thing happen..... I click the wrong post, I was answering the one with the line-up
................................... Meara Barkl (Holger)....Conde.......Marquez.....Peare ............................Dax ......Solli....................................Lindpere ..................LeToux ....Henry...........................Cooper
Well my dear friend, you don't have the fact just right, ....Le Toux is our CAM for the rest of 2012; what they will bring next this year will be another striker to trade Cooper to some other place and will not be until 2013 that they will look for a legit # 10, believe me..... I think that they have already the place to where Cooper is going to go and ready to the striker that come even if is only for this year, he will be a big name, who I don't have the less idea, but all that is ready made.....You will see.....Is the only way that we will fight for The People's Shield and the MLS CUP, play on the CONCACAF and open the gate to go WORLD WIDE.....
By now, I've learned to have a little patience before judging trades. Too many things that looked good on paper have been crap. Let's see how he fits in. On paper, this deal looks incredible, and if it works out, could set us up for a cup this season.
I don't mind losing Richards here because we are getting real value back for him. Still he was a great player for this team and we should thank him for his service to the club.
Absolutely. He was a good player, but that was the extent of it. Single handed blowing up of the Houston defense will be tops of those great moments. He had some fantastic moments amoungst many hours of inconsistent play.
This. Many of us wanted to see Solli in midfield for a while. With the emergence of Barklage this was allowed to happen and the returns were great. However, I would have liked to keep Dane as a bench player because he would have been a legit threat off the bench late in a game. HOWEVER, odds are that after being a starter in the league for so many years Dane was not about to accept that role. The trade is a good one. Adds to an area of need while covering a few positions depth wise. Also we're getting a player who is much better in possession play than Richards was. I agree with what's already been stated. Now we need another CM. He doesn't have to be a DP, but another young work horse would be great cover.
One final note, I always love not having to root for players from other CONCACAF nations on my team. With Richards gone, it is clear sailing to hate Jamaica in September when the US takes 6 points from them.
Another thing is that I think Le Toux will be really happy in NY despite being traded again. He's being partnered up with another Frenchman and Henry/Le Toux will form the French connection! I do feel bad for Dane as him going to Vancouver may hurt his international duties. I can imagine from Vancouver to Jamaica is a long flight.
I liked Dane and I'm sorry to see him go - but I've said for a while I don't think Richards and solli worked that well together so this probably a smart strategic move.
Like I said, Dane is a game breaker and he's learned to put in a very solid shift defensively too. He just doesn't play that great with others in combination. I think this is an upgrade.
I don't see that happening. I am not quite sure, but I do expect Rafa to stay in central defense. We just have more depth. If we go with a 4-3-3, I think it is more likely Lindpere is in the middle and either Solli or McCarty out wide right and I am not sure if Lade or who else would be out wide left. I think the defense would be McCarty, Marquez Conde Pearce, but of course I could be wrong. This is going to be interesting. We just have a lot of options and depth which is good. If we get that DP at #10, we might see another trade.
I will never use McCarty as a Defender, first he is to slow and second, he is a destroyer and to dangerous to commit to many fouls on the 18's that can cost us dearly.... We will play a 4-4-2 and Le Toux will play as a CAM, his ability of pass the ball, dribble and shut, make him the "Real Deal" over there..... And what is coming our way is one more striker as a DP, and the trade of Cooper for another striker too......
I meant Barklage and not McCarty in defense. I just don't see Le Toux ever being used as a CAM. I don't think he has ever played that position and it takes a lot more than just being a good passer to throw someone in that position.
I can see Riquelme being the short term solution that they spoke about and giving him a half season contract. Like we did Rost last season. If metz' prediction of another striker comes true, I could see Anelka. That is if he leaves the Chinese club. Not sure what is going on with that now.
