he's been involved in a lot of trouble, as you may know. There's that contract issue with chunnam dragons....and his off-field problems as well. Omiya Ardija released him so his a free agent...but the big guys of KFA are unwilling to let him participate in the k-league because of his past...and I really doubt he'll get another chance even if he sincerely apologizes to the public and stuff...cos of S. Korea's Confucianism culture which emphasizes respect to seniors, etc. I wish that he would get another chance. At least for the 2002 vs 2012 all-star game. I still can't forget his tears during the 2006 world cup, and I was dissapointed that he didn't get to play in 2010.
Forget this guy, he will never play in the K-league nor KNT ever again. He had a big mouth, needs to learn how to shut it when needed.
Did he really have big upside? Never really noticed, but disclaimer is I wasn't much of a fan before 2002.
Yes. There's a reason why he's the only one that made it to Spain. But the millennium kid was a huge waste of talent. He should just retire. Or goto CHina.
His attitude really contributes to his ugliness IMO. If he had half of PJS's sincerity everyone would say he was moderate looking. Hell if he had half of PJS's sincerity he would have made it to the EPL no problem. Woman-beating, boorish drunk and overall psycho just make LCS all the more uglier. I did have high hopes for him after the 2006 WC, 2007 Asian Cup (seemed to be one of the few NT members that gave a shit). I still remember him ripping Gamba Osaka a spluttering new asshole in the A3 Champions Cup for Ulsan. What could have been ... he would have done a much better job than Yeommy at WC2010. Can anyone share the more unsavoury LCS stories? I heard he got into fights when he was at Suwon, not sure what went down at Chunnam (I had already given up on him) and didn't he give some high school girls the finger when they displayed a sign against him back in the day?
I don't think he was going to be a 'star' on the European stage but for the KNT he brought something different. I guess he would have to considering he was probably the smallest guy out there. I just remember the two free kicks that won the match, one against Greece in a friendly at Craven Cottage and the other against Togo in '06.
I liked Lee Chun-Soo as a football player, but like everyone else I never really liked his attitude. The free kicks goals (Togo vs South Korea, Greece vs South Korea, Suwon Samsung Bluewings vs Ulsan Hyundai Horang-i) he score is the reason why I remember plus his was one of our better players in the 2007 Asian cup squad which was our worst squad in history.
Yup. Apart from the extremely good goalkeeping of galbi (who's the best keeper in KNT history, hands down), LCS was the only one who really shined at that tourney. 곰가방 did not have the best squad, but our football was all 뻥축구 esp. with JJJ at the front who had the goal accuracy of that of Emile Heskey. Oh yeah the Asian Cup was around the time I registered and I remember how Korea BS appeared on Naver News with Kovendreamer's banner....good times
Damn that was a long time ago .. back then I was Golazo!! and getting into flamefests with Iranians. Nothing's changed ...
I heard he punched out Moon Min-Kui over an argument when he was at Suwon back in 2008. I think that was probably the last straw for Lee Chun-Soo for a lot of people. Lee Chun-Soo turns just 31 in a few days, so there's still time for him to come out of retirement at some point, but I completely agree with the sentiments stated in this thread. His poor attitude unfortunately overshadows his talent, and he's already burned too many bridges in the K-League to make a comeback there, in my opinion. It's really a shame how much talent he wasted. I remember how a lot of people on here considered him the KNT's MVP at the 2006 World Cup, but it was mostly downhill from there. Well I think the most positive thing about the 2007AC was the emergence of the new generation of defenders like Oh Beom-Seok and Kim Chi-Woo, but yeah, that was definitely the worst offensive performance of any KNT at a major tournament. And not just JJJ but also Lee Dong-Gook and even Lee Chun-Soo missed a lot of chances in that competition. But yeah, the days of King Leewoonidas and his Spartan defenders were definitely good times.
He ruined his own career. Why did he get kicked out of Omiya? He close the door on K-League with the entire Jeonnam debacle and his BS in Netherlands. He should open up a restaurant and live off the money he's earned. He had loads of talent even though he's ugly as heck and had his chances that very few Korean players received. He has no excuse. How the hell did he get kicked out of Omiya. What a loser.
yes, the guy's just has a trash mentality. But on the field, you know he's giving everything he had out there. You guys don't like him because he's just a completely punk. For me, he's an unfortunate case and a victim of himself(if that made any sense). He gets a lifetime pass from me because of the togo equalizer and the emotion shown for swiss game a couple of days later.
I had a chance to hang out with LCS and many other members of the KNT for a couple of days when they were in Los Angeles for a match against Mexico in 2006. He was a passenger in my dads car and when we went to the ritz carlton to drop him off my dad inadvertently parked in the no parking zone of the hotel. When the parking attendent ran over to politely tell us to move the car, LCS started to curse at him in his broken english saying "Puk you, puk you man!" The other players in the car seemed embarasssed and didnt say anything
lol do you really think im lying? my dad has connections with the team so he knows alot of the players. check this thread for my pjs gameworn signed jersey http://www.bigsoccer.com/community/posts/24194946/
