i don't know what the fuss is about, i like this away strip... an improvement. not so sure about the home strip though, i guess we will see...
I don't like it at all. Not a fan of the royal blue on an Aussie guernsey. The home shirt reminds me of those cheap knock off Aussie gear you'd see out the front of a Dimmeys store. Maybe a bit harsh but they'll need time to grow on me I think.
Actually I loved the last two away kits we had, with the dark blue with white lettering. I had one with Tim Cahill's name on it, but it was lost when I moved home. If anybody knows where I could get another one size large PLEASE drop me a line. Actually, I like Australia wearing the dark blue as an away kit. I think its really sexy, because they are wearing the colors of our nation's flag.
$129 AUS?!! I live in the US, will they ship to the US? Still 129.99 for a kit is alot. Most I ever spent was $70
Weirdly, everyone is praising Umbro for its current retro line! Ironically, brought about by financing from Nike. Thats it. Umbro took the money, but the design is all theirs. Whilst Nike's new kits are, ah, interesting. Must confess, the new Australian kit will take a long time to grow on me. I happen to think it looks more like a training kit than the regular one, but... http://www.nikeblog.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/Nike-Considered-Team-Kits.jpg At least it is not the Netherlands, which is 3rd generation from Manchester United via Yokohama F Marino's. Or the Slovenians. The new Slovenian looks like it should be a jockey's colours, rather than a footy kit.
Fozzie lets rip http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/craig-foster/blog/993471/The-green-and-gold-should-mean-so-much-more
I don't like it, I think the away kit is sexy and I am getting it at the world cup kit release party on Friday at Chicago Soccer, only 50 Australian World Cup kits (home and Away) in the whole city of Chicago, I am battling the crowd to get the away kit (so help me). But WHAT DID THE FFA DO TO OUR BELOVED COAT OF ARMS?! Craig Foster was right, that was one thing they should not have touched, and even if it only would have been a sound byte on the evening news, they stil should have made a 3-ring circus about the kit release. Its things like that to show the fans who live abroad, like me, that the sport is thriving at home. Now I really want our old kit SIZE LARGE AWAY somebody find me one!!!!!!!
I don't like the new kit much either, but as usual Fozzie's gone completely overboard. Who cares if it's slightly different to our traditional kit? Italy have far more history to their uniform than we do, and they won't be wearing the traditional white shorts and socks this June. And at any rate, what IS our traditional kit? Not sure what Fozzie is on about, but white socks haven't been part of the uniform for decades. When we lost to Iran in 1997, our shorts were black. During a lot of the 80s and 90s, the predominant colour of our jerseys was green. It's not like we're the Wallabies or the Kangaroos. Our uniform has varied widely over the years depending on fashions and manufacturers.
i like it... not as good as the previous one but christ, all this fuss by fozzy is ludicrous.... besides the white stripe on the front how different is it to the one we qualified for germany in?
I can kind of see why some people may not like it. It does have a little air of being "pajamary" about it. Also, not totally original, since England had that Admiral number from the 80's. http://a545.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images01/72/l_ca63c36ca2681c10a091a390ba2cc670.jpg Very interesting to see what they did to create the logo on the shirt. Place the Federations "orange peel" logo and surround it with elements from the national coat of arms. I look at it, and think that I can understand WHY they did it, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. It is better than many. For example, the USA. Why oh why do they insist in using the Cuban flag for inspiration!? There is also your near-neighbours when they used (using?) that odd black and grey football thing. Then, on the flip side, there are many which are better... However. With all these criticisms, there is something to be said for the Australian kit. Whilst it isnt like the England kit which seems to have gone down very well, or Puma's new Italy kit, it is much better than the new US home kit which just seems to be embarrassed to have a sash/stripe thing, or possibly the worst kit at the WC, Slovenia. With their horse racing colours themed shirt!
I don't think its too bad, its got more gold thangreen and it's better than 'the spew'top, soI'll likely get one for my trip to SA2010...On sale at Rebel Bondi Junction from Thursday last week. A$140. I want to know where we can get the name and numering done like what te team will havein June(I want WC sleeve patches too, no half measures, the whole hog or I'm not buying the bloody thing) anyone know where I could get this done? Pretty please? Cheers, CS - now coming to you live from Adelaide - tis good to be back in the A-D-L
