Here's a thread for TV discussions! (Or, if you're like me, the pirated-shows-off-extremely-illegal-websites thread.) I know there are quite a few vocal "Wire" fans here. I just want to rave about "Friday Night Lights," which I just started watching because apparently I'm born to be about ten weeks late on everything. It's AMAZING. If you haven't seen it, it's about this high school football in a Texan town, but I think it's the most beaaauuutiful and well-written network drama I've seen since, well, ever. You know something's amazing if it shows on NBC and is still soundtracked by Explosions in the Sky. This show really, really, really makes me yearn for a decent show (or movie) about soccah.
I stopped watching that show(FNL), mainly because I can't keep up with shows on TV, and I wasn't committed enough to download it. That cheerleader is insanely cute though. I like My Name Is Earl, though I rarely see it anymore. Every week I download The Office, Heroes, and 24, so I guess those are the only shows to which I'm committed. All my friends watch Lost, but having only seen the first episode, I'm way too far behind to catch up now. Other than that, I watch whatever random TLC/WTTW/Discovery Channel show happens to be on when I'm home(Esp. MythBusters, Extreme Engineering, Miami Ink, Take Home Chef, Chicago Tonight). Also, I LOVE Globe Trekker.
I have been crazy busy lately (then why are you posting on here so much...good question) but I try to have 40 minutes of free time each night so I can watch the Daily Show and the Colbert Report from the night before. The Wire...we've (my house, not the royal we) started with it...but we only watched a couple of episodes. Not really our thing I guess. We still need to finish 24 season 5. And I love Extra's! Anybody know it? Also, I thought this thread was about something else entirely. I need to get out more.
Yes that cheerleader from FNL is super hawt. I just never had the time or desire to continue watching it. That series was actually part of the curriculum in one of my classes at school. I love My Name Is Earl. The idea of the show in trying to repay your bad deeds is very creative and the material never gets old. Not to mention how heavenly sexy Catalina is. Just saying her name makes me fidgit. The Office is my fav series right now. Dwight continues to put a smile on his face with his antics. Oh yeah and Karen=HAWWWWTTTT! I've watched almost every episode of Prisonbreak and words can not describe that show.
Is Prison Break really worth checking out? It looks like 24 but with less technology. About The Wire, I guess I'm the de facto head gusher around here... I just wanna say you can't really watch a few episodes and then check out. It would be like reading the first 5 chapters of Huckleberry Finn and deciding it was a book about a kid who's just getting used to small time American town life. The pilot episode is the only episode I can think of that is more or less "self-contained". All the other episodes are chapters in the context of the season.
Be that as it may, Sonja Sohn makes me want to kick peoples heads in. So it would probably be best for the safety and health of those around me to refrain from watching it any more
*falls out of chair* Of course it is!!! Its the best series I've ever seen with so many twists and turns you don't know what the duck to expect. Give it a peep tonight. You won't be disappointed.
Right now I'm watching 3 series that are alike in that they really well written, have many twists and cause you to anxiously wait for the next chapter: Lost, Heroes and Prison Break. I would recomend either/all of them to anyone. I really like My name is Earl as well. It's one of the best comedies in recent years. When I can I also watch "How I met your mother". I also like Extras, but here it's on HBO Saturday nights, which makes watching it difficult for me. I try to watch House every week, which is by far the best medical series on TV today. Hugh Laurie's delivery of Gregory House's dry, sarcastic remarks alone is worth the watch.
*falls down from balcony* In other words, watch it. I think i watched all of season one in about 1.3 days!
MythBusters rule! Also like Dirty Jobs. 48 Hours (mysterious murder cases on CBS) And, uh, Cheaters. (I know, I know...)
Does anybody know the Winner? it's with Rob Cordry. If you like his work for the daily show, check it out.
Did that show start airing yet? I might have to start downloading it. Seeing your posts, I'm reminded of a couple other shows. Of course, The Daily Show and Colbert Report (which I watch pretty much every day), and It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. If you haven't seen that show, you need to drop whatever it is you're doing and go watch it. Seriously, walk out of your office building, put down your hammer and tape measure, leave your patient on the operating table, just go. You'll thank me later.
I just caught a couple of episodes this past weekend. Pretty funny stuff. I like that it's set in Buffalo (where I lived a good part of my life). The 2 episodes I saw definitely reminded me of Get A Life with Chris Elliott, and that's never a bad thing.
There's this great show on HD called "Three Sheets" where the host goes to various locales around the world and drinks the local potables, learning about the culture and what not, waking up and rating his hangover. It's got that "Blind Date" vibe with the camera jokes. So far the only time he was too bombed to continue was in Jamaica. They poured him some "locals only" rum, which he boldly imbibed. The next day he was so f****** up, he couldn't shoot and the camera crew lost an entire day. So the whole day they just chilled in the big hall he was laid up in, alternating between filming a reggae band practicing in one end and filming the host laid up in the corner. It was hilarious.
LMFAO! I love that show. A 32 year old virgin living with his parent with the mind of a 14 year old. Not to mention he hangs out with a 14 year old! That show is even funnier that Family Guy. The producers of family guy created the show BTW.
No, seriously, I had it on DVD...I just couldn't stop watching! but to answer your question, no, I was never a cereal
Umm I guess you didn't see the Al Gore episode of South Park then. What you said made no sense. Take the "a" out of your response and then it makes sense.
The major threat to mankind...Manbearpig. Half man, half bear, half pig. You guys i'm super cereal! God I love that show.
Rakim, if you like The Winner you should check out Get A Life. It ran 3 seasons on Fox in the late '80s/early '90s. It's the same plot, except the main character is a thirtysomething paperboy instead of a video store clerk. There are 2 DVDs out with a 3 or 4 episodes each on 'em. Pretty brilliant stuff.
Chris Elliot show. Man, that's right up there with It's Your Move with Jason Bateman and Steve from Married w/ Children in the great, forgotten sitcom Hall of Fame.
I feel stupid for not having seen this yet. I love Rob Corddry. I met him here in the city and he was awesome and very nice. I have to see it. Ohh and let me just say Arrested Development. That's it.
Anyone watching the BBC's Planet Earth? Such a gorgeous documentary series. I'm a huge fan. I own the Blue Planet series on DVD, and I want David Attenborough to narrate my everyday life. I know. <----Nerrrrd.
