Have you skied at Wolf Creek before? I have some friends who skied there about 15 years ago, and they said the snow was great, but that the area didn't have too many restaurants, shops, etc.
My sister and I have a small place in Pagosa Springs, on the west side of Wolf Creek Pass, so we bring our families down fairly frequently. It's my favorite place to ski in the US -- it's still pretty small townish, but lift tickets are not expensive and the snow if flipping fantastic - so I'm just as happy that it's not overly developed.
Sounds like a great spot to vacation. I spent a week with my dad in the Lake City and Ouray area, and we loved its beauty and its relative isolation. Too many parts of Colorado are overrun with tourists, and lack the peace and tranquility a relaxing vacation should provide.
