    Has that ever happened?

Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if Contador tries to leave Astana.

From a casual search it looks like the closest has been two with Contador and Levi two years ago doing it most recently. The further back I looked the harder it was to find actual team names for some of the riders.

As far as Contador leaving, Johan had stated some time around when Lance announced his return that under no circumstances will Contador ride for any other team. Looking at some of the riders Astana has brought in and it seems like they were with Armstrong in mind.

I read a comment today that said that Armstrong reckoned he would be pretty weak from the Giro and may end up having to ride as a domestique.

    I don't see it.

I'm excited about this, though, particularly the Giro. I've never really followed it, but like the shameless bandwagoning slut that I am, I will this year. :D

It doesn't matter who the team captain is now or even at the start of the TDF. By stage 8 Armstrong could easily be the captain if he outperforms Contador in the TT and first stages in the Pyrenees

I think Preudhomme is a wanker.

Separately, I wonder if this is going to turn into a Hinault/Lemond thing with Armstrong and Contador (to say nothing of Levi).

Agreed. As if Armstrong didn't quadruple the popularity of the even in the last 10 years. Please.

Does it look like he's a bit low in his saddle? Maybe an optical illusion from his outfit?

I think you might be correct, his arms seem a bit more bent.

I just love the traffic behind them.

I noticed the same thing. I wonder if the guy way back is thrilled to be in a traffic jam on some random country road.

Hard to tell about the saddle because of the tights. He more looks like he's over the bars which would account for the arm bend. What's more interesting is the look of strain on his face compared to the rest of the group. Knowing Lance, he's probably posturing for the camera.

What I find weird is the rest of the group wearing the Astana kit while he sports his foundations colors. I guess he is going to a billboard for the cause after all.

I don't think his seat position is too low. If he sat upright, he'd look the same. You just can't spot his waste in the black tights. However, if you look close enough, I think you can see the seat.

You are probably right. It looks like it could be the top of the seat post?

I think he still looks a bit "scrunched" in his position.

I think he will be ready for the Giro, but I will go on record and say I don't think he is going to be going for the win at the TDF. And besides, I will be rooting for the Columbia and Garmin/Slipstream teams. :D

I am excited for the next TDF, not because of Lance, but because of Alberto, Levi and then Lance being added to the equation.

This should be an exciting season of racing if not only for the circus that Lance will bring. I'm of the opposing view as you and don't think Lance is capable of not wanting to go for the win. As far as Columbia and Garmin, I'll also be pulling for them as well. Zero Argentine teams and only a couple of riders worth mentioning makes pulling for an American team easy:D

Nice, bunch of Monday morning quarterback cyclists on Big Soccer, no less, telling Lance that his seat is too low.

Lance and his wrenches probably know better, but we won't let them know that.
