That's cool. I'll try to be in touch with info if there's a viewing party, etc.

Most of the Lancaster people come to Reading (Trooper Thorn's) for the games. This was mostly due to the fact that there hasn't been much activity on the boards from people in the Lancaster area. Slitz, DBird, and I all live in Lancaster County and I know of a few more but that is it so far. Any interest is a positive thing. I don't know of any soccer friendly pubs in Lancaster other than Annie Bailey's but I've never been there. Any information you can give as to a possible pub in Lancaster would be great. I'd be willing to come up for a game to check things out and meet any other SoB's in Lancaster. Keep me posted.

Yeah, some people are active on Facebook, some on Big Soccer, some neither, but we are here! We even have charter SoB members among us. It's taking a while to get a good head count, but there are definitely Union fans scattered about!

I've had mixed success watching matches at Annie Bailey's. There are a group of us who watch matches (Union, EPL, Champions League, etc.) regularly, usually at Brendee's or Roseville Tavern. The Brickyard was also really soccer-friendly during the last World Cup, but I'm not sure if that is always the case.

As of now, I don't know of any viewing parties in the area for the NYRB match this weekend--of the Lancaster people I've talked to, some will be at the match, some will be at the Penn State Blue-White game, and some aren't sure what they're doing. I'll try to keep everyone in the area in the loop!

Yeah! And they're pretty tolerant of our *ahem* rowdier friends, yelling at the screen during matches.

    We'll keep you posted, JamesonSoB!

And for anyone so inclined, Brendee's is opening up early tomorrow morning to show the Man U - Tottenham match. I know there will be fans of both teams there, so don't be shy! (Not sure exactly when they're opening, but before the 7:45 a.m. start time.)

So mad I'm going out of town this weekend. *grumble*

Just a quick shout-out: A few of us will be headed out to watch the Union v. Chicago tonight at the Brickyard. We're hoping to sit in the back bar, as we had a good experience there last week. Look for Union colors!

(And actually, a few of us will be there early to watch the Phillies game too, which starts at 7:05.)

Yep, some of us were/are out at The Brickyard as we speak, taking in day one's matches.

I predict a big crowd for the US-ENG match tomorrow. A few of us plan to be there all day, starting with the 7:30 match. I'll probably have on my Union jacket, as it's usually on the cool side in there. Can't wait!

Going to PPL for the open house tomorrow. May hit the Brickyard on Sunday before heading up to the Real FC Reading United AC City Wanderers match.

I'm likely to be moving to Lancaster city shortly. Is there a good place to watch Union games in the city or do bars there not really show it?

Talk about a thread back from the dead!
I'm at work so I can't link the FB url, but we do a lot of coordinating through the SoB 717 Brigade page too.
    Welcome to Lancaster!

(Though, Erin, you see who his English team is? You sure we want him around? :p)

Thanks for reviving this thread. On Friday I accepted a new job in Lancaster (starting in April). It's good to see that there is a contingent of Union fans in the area. I'll definitely make it out to the viewing parties after I get settled.

If you guys do find a bar that agrees to be your home base for Union games, let the elders know (info at sonsofben dot com) and we can get them signed up as an official SoB pub partner, list them on our web site, and send an email blast to our Lancaster-area members.

The requirements, more or less, are that the bar has to agree to show all Union away games, with sound on, and to offer some kind of food and drink specials to members. PM me or email the above if anyone is interested in following up.

Yeah...we've been in talks with bars since the beginning, and so far, no one has really committed. We're able to get seats/sound as long as nothing else is going on (Phillies, March Madness, etc.), for the most part. One bar might be changing its tune, though, so we might be in touch. Thanks!
