Re: Season 1991-92 A lot of sources say that Carlos Valderrama was a flop in Europe. Was he really that bad at Valladolid?
Following the Primera Division. Yes, I'm curious about how you recognized the players. I have never heard of some (especially at the minor spanish teams). The rankings are interesting although I see some strange discrepancies. For example: some of the non-rated stars do have a pretty high rating.
I tried to list some players who had at least continental recognition or had many NT caps. The interesting of these rankings is the appearence of some unknown players or one season wonders, and like you said, the missing of some stars that anyone can imagine were able to top the lists.

Don Balon Best XI: Season 1993-94 Since i don't have full results, This is a Bonus for La Liga series. Team of the season 1993-94 ------------------- Cañizares Ferrer ----- F.Caceres ----- Abelardo ----- Sergi --------- Donato ------------- M.Silva --- Simeone -------------------- J.Guerrero -------- Romario -------- Stoichkov
Re: Don Balon Best XI: Season 1993-94 Don Balon ranking pick these 4 mids in their team of the 1993-94 season: Mauro Silva, Donato, Simeone & Julen Guerrero. I think Simeone scored a lot of goals in this season, so that could be a reason why they put it in an advanced role. Other reason could be the higher ranking of the 3 DM and they don't have miss anyone. But it's ok, change the mid tactic to: ----- Simeone --- Donato --- Mauro Silva -------------- J.Guerrero But i'm not so sure whether many teams played a system like that. So, we back to the 2nd reason (3 DM were topped the list). But i don't have the numbers mate

I just revise El Mundo ranking and Thomas N'Kono won first place twice times is seemingly much overrating because he is better than Zubizarreta in overall seasons. N'Kono is surely one of the legendary goalkeepers. He won African footballer of the year twice and finish second place once time but no one rank him top 50 goalkeeper of all-time because his goalkeeping skill still not reached standard of European legend.
You're welcome Roy and thank you. BTW, N'kono topped El Mundo lists, many times due to his cummulative points (more games, more points). And if i remember well, only in 1 season he had a world-class season considering average. Another ones were intl-class or in the edge.
