Probably a mixture of regulars and reserves. As I understand it, its a charity match. And, yes, I expect to be there tonight: Channel Islands H.S. at 7:00 PM.
Charity match - to help raise funds for building a new church for Our Lady of Guadalupe parish in Oxnard. I would guess there were about 2500 people who showed up - maybe a few more. San Diego Gauchos were clearly outclassed, and gave up a goal two minutes into the game. LA scorers: Michael Umana Ned Grabavoy (2 goals) Joseph Ngweny Starting LA line up: Cronin Benditsen (Sp?) Chinchilla Roberts Broome Umana Gomez Grabavoy Chisoni Naldo Ngwenya So, from last week's reseve match - Grabavoy moves from defensive mid to attacking mid. Umana moves up to defensive mid and Benditsen starts in the back in Umana's place. Half time subs: Enfield on for Naldo. Memo on for Gomez Umana opens the scoring on a scrum off a corner kick. One of those balls that bounce off everybody until someone finally ends the process. Grabavoy had two fantastics goals. The first, a half-volley off a Naldo lay off. Powerful low shot that went past the keeper on a hop. The second on a free kick from about 8 yards outside the box - curved around the wall and went into the up corner out of keeper's reach. BTW: Ned again had the captain's arm band. Ngweny used speed and strength to bull his way into the box and roofed a shot that had the keeper frozen. Enfield came on in the second half. In the reserve game against RSL he played attacking mid, and in that game he may have been the most impressive guy on the pitch. Last night, as a striker, he looked much less comfortable, particularly where he took the ball with his back to goal. When he had a chance to turn and face the defense, he showed flashes of skill, but he is not now a target forward. I suspect that the problem is with Landon and Grabavoy ahead of him in attacking mid, coach is looking for some other spot to use his skills. Umana as a defensive mid was not all that great, and Chinchilla again looked sort of indifferent. But, to use a Vitale-ism - Stock Down - Memo. Played the second half against clearly inferior competition, and still looked like a deer in the headlights when he had the ball, and was being knocked off the ball easily. I am about to lose hope that he will come on and be the player Sigi thought he was getting. Cronin was not really tested, but again was out off his line twice where a more skillful opponent would have chipped him for scores. His positioning needs a lot of work as does his judgment on when to come out. Final: LAG 4 - SDG 0. A good workout. Regulars were there to sign autographs for the kids. A fun evening.
Sounded like a good game. They should advertise these a little more at the regular games... or something. Go Ned! Steve, please, why is he not on the field? If you trade Pete for Ned (no disrespect Pete, but you are not an attacking powerhouse) I will withhold any criticism, at least the rest of this season. Ok, that might be a lie. But, Pete can come on when/if we go up 2 goals. AND, Steve listen! With Ned, you have a more true 6-MAN midfield. Huh huh? How can you resist!
OMG!!!! recap from yesterday!!!! ok so I went and we got there early *Shock* I know..me early?!?!?! yeah well we got there early and sat down, got some things like a galaxy poster and some brocheurs for their games and then we sat down and the playes went on the field and started practicing... We saw the Goalie and I thought YES! the a-squad was gonna be playing! but I was wrong.. but in a good way the players who played were the B-list, but they played a good game and they won 4-0. The pros did go! but they didn't play and they just sat down and watched the game, they even started dancing when that one song ... its goes"mesa, mesa, mesa que mas aplauda"... you get the rest.. it was soo funny! and they signed autographs during half time and I got tons!!! and pictures too! i'll post them. Well like the last 15 min before it ended my mom came and since she's cool with the padre (lol) we got to go to the vip seats where the players were playing and got on the field when the game was over. Then we got to serve the galaxy dinner! which was fun because we were all joking around! it was soo fun!!! When they were all done we got pictures with them, they were soo nice! Now for the gauchos section, we didn't really know anyone from the gauchos, but I was rooting for them the whole time! I like to root for the underdog.. well when the game ended and everyone go on the field, we got a ton of Guacho autographs and they were soo nice! After we finished serving the galaxy we went to go help the guachos, but they had all pretty much finished eating and were just finishing up and joking around. We asked for more autographs and pictures and they were soo cool, and soo much fun!! we all joked around and they were the coolest guys! At the end, this really nice guy, who i guess is the manager or the coach, found a couple of posters that advertised the match and had all the guys on the team sign them!!!! It was so nice and the guys were all great and cool, and just fun!! I had a great time and met some cool and awsome poeple! if this is how all soccer games are, i am definitely going to more! lol And I learned that being friends with a priest allows you to meet the LA galaxy and the SD Gauchos! lol
Yes God does do amazing things...but I never thought it would take God so I could meet the Galaxy..lol Hola Jorge! Estoy bien gracias y usted?
I have never posted a note before, so I hope I am doing it right. I would love to see the pictures from the Gauchos game. Where would I go to see them?
