I don't know. That's my fear. Hopefully not, but at least that way I wouldn't drown. Pass I appreciate the gesture. *squeaks out fourth of smile*
OK. You should be cool with a guppy class. From what I remember, guppies know how to propel themselves and won't have to wear float belts. (Not the arm things. The belts are basically a couple of foam blocks that are on a black web belt with a buckle, that way it frees up arm movement.) In this class, if it's taught like the YMCA classes, they'll teach you how to do circular breathing, how to better propel yourself in the water via front and back crawls (elementary freestyle and backstroke) and how to tread water. All are simple to learn and will help you become better acquainted with the water so that you'll be more relaxed and use less energy to get from one side of the pool to the other. And don't beat yourself up about not getting into the original class. It's really, really great that you're going to take the Guppy class though. Swimming is one of those things that most people don't think is worth learning once they become an adult. Besides learning how to swim properly, you'll also learn drown proofing, which will give you much greater confidence in and around all kinds of water, should something happen, like falling in, or being on a flipped boat, etc.
Oh, and I owe someone here a PM, but it'll have to wait until tomorrow. Sorry. Work kicked my ass today and I have to be back up here in 11 hours.
ahh, i grew up in Michigan. So you kind of had to know how to swim. Its pretty easy to learn once they teach you the types of strokes. So you'll probably be promoted from your guppie class after a short while.
Good Lord, I could have told you that yesterday. That shit's evil. Where in MI? (Born and raised in Detroit.)
oooh, I always get excited when I learn people are midwesterners. I'm originally from the cheese state on the other side of Lake Michigan, but now I live out east. Sometimes I miss the midwest bitterly. On the other hand, often if I'm there too long, I feel the opposite. So, I've been sort of absent from BS because I still don't have internet set up in my new place. I have to choose between horrible Verizon and evil Comcast. All of the plans cost several arms and a leg (save for dial-up...). All I want is simple internet service, people!!! I should get on that so I can get my regular soccer fix.
Always cool to come across another Michigander. -- Though I love DC and likely won't be moving for a long time, Detroit will always be home.
I had no idea. All I had was one. I've had cups of PJ before and been fine. I was trying to drink most of it because something told me one of peps on the hall wouldn't be able to take it. I drunk it too fast <30 mins. Sad thing is it did not make Jersey Shore entertaining so I know last night's episode was stale. Ahhh Kitten that's where you got your couch!
You just need to know where to go in Detroit. Any major city is going to have sketchy parts - there are certainly parts of DC where I try to not spend too much time if I can avoid it.
My uncle wouldn't even drive through some parts of DC when he lived there. Does anyone here know how to boogie?
DC has some super sketch spots. I used to go to this hole in the wall hardcore venue in Oakland, CA that i was pretty sure was going to get me stabbed.
I thought people loved it. I saw this lovely young Pocahontas. I should have asked her for her name. I have to know her name.
If I could get The Wire streamed, I think I'd be all over it. IIRC, Netflix doesn't offer an online version.
I'm trying to decide if I should go to bed or watch a movie. I'm looking at my Netflix queue and I can't decide between stupid comedy, dark foreign, humorous foreign, TV show or lesbian flick.
nope it doesn't. speaking of netflix, i just watched the heart of me. It was good, but i cannot stand Helena Bonham Carter. is the stupid comedy outing riley? that movie had me in stitches.
