Does Blas Perez have a guaranteed contract? Surely he and Cooper would occupy the same space on a team trying to fit Ferreira, Shea and Castillo/Jackson onto the field at the same time. I keep seeing Kenny going to RSL and partnering with Saborio. Rumors kicking around on TransferTwit that you guys are looking at Latin America for a keeper, and putting it together, would that be Justo Villar of Paraguay?
Nope--35 and former multiple World Cup vet. Hmmm--Latin American keeper, in his 20s, playing in Europe...must be Memo Ochoa! Could you imagine?
Latin American goal keeper? Friend of Blas Perez who, played at Osasuna in Spain and Cagliari in Italy? Panama NT GK'er? Currently playing in Guatemala.
Ives rumor is at least interesting--sounds like it could be Cooper.... The MLS off-season just keeps on rumbling. Have a fresh trade to report, with a West power getting a forward they know well.
Scratch that---Findley back to RSL. Although maybe that means there's one less destination Cooper might go.
Not sure RBNY is quite so interested in offloading him now that they shipped French Kenny Cooper back to Philly.
I think Kenny would be a great addition to our team. He'll be close to home, paid well, and have David feeding him the ball. Plus, if we lose Shea, bringing someone that the fans know well, will be an easier transition with fans. Is this even really a possibility?
Under NY's old leadership it might have been, but on the latest ETR Petke makes it sound like Cooper is very much in his plans.
I heard that. He also said Henry isn't a problem. My deduction... Petke is good liar. When Coop is sold it won't be to FCD. Wish I didn't love soccer.
You're probably spot on. As much as I'd love to see Cooper back in stripes, I just cannot see it happening given his inclination to roam over set tactics. That is a clash with the strict SH just waiting to happen.
I don't know.......................... They've gotten Espindola now and the Costa Rican Josue Martinez to add to Henry and some youngsters. If they get the right offer for Cooper, they might sell. Would Kenny want to come back to Dallas?
Regardless of opinions of Cooper, the fact remains we've had a glaring need at striker for years. Blaz fixed that, but he's not available every game, and we're also dabbling with a two man system. If still available, this should be a no brainier. He's a proven MLS scorer, and fills a huge need the club has had. If someone can point out another name to clear up this issue I'm game, but right now this seems like an easy solution to a big problem.
All that allocation money from the Shea sale could probably entice NYRB and pay down Coopers Salary...
I guess the question is: How high are Schellas and staff on Jonathan Top? And are we serious about going back to a 4-4-2? Right now we have Perez, plus veteran backup (Pipico), plus youthful backup (Top and Baladez). This is assuming Castillo is going to play on the wing to replace Shea. I havent' seen enough of any of those backups to have any semblance of an opinion. You know who I would have liked? RSL was clearly shopping Fabian Espindola, and he went to New York. I would have loved to have paired him with Blas........................
I'm still (mildly) upset that we didn't nab Lenhart or Braun when they were available. Cheap, American, not horrible, and able to play the lone striker.
