Agreed. I don't think FSC would even mention it. And Toronto is a good matchup with a lot of people watching.

I'll join May 2nd or 9th. FWIW, I agree with the poster that made the point that we would get better local coverage from Comcast than from FSC. But I'm not sure if either will have the audience that we need to reach; a blurb on the local news may be the best for that.

Excellent idea. I probably won't be able to join the march on either day but once all details have been set I will post info wherever I can.

FSC does have a pre-game show. If it happens on 5/2, it can't hurt to include them in the media heads up and see if they can do some B-roll for the pre-game show. They have to fill half an hour so they might enjoy having something easy to work with.

Plus, it ratchets up the possibility that it gets on Fox Soccer Report and goes in their B roll archive for future use.

My vote is for May 9th based on planning time, Comcast Broadcast, and away fan presence, but the most important factor is when Barry and other legislators are available. We really have a chance to put a stadium in DC back into the minds of legislators and citizens, but it will take participation, planning, and good communications with local news and important figures.

I'll be there regardless of the date, but I have to say that a national broadcast is far superior.

People in the area will get both games - but to reach a national audience gives our effort a lot more coverage. I'm sure that FSC will eat this up and have cameras there and make it a part of their coverage.

    I vote for the 2nd.

    Edit: Monster's post +1

Just because FSC is broadcasting the match doesn't mean that Comcast can't have a film crew there to cover a rally. Between Russ Thaler (CSN) & Dave Johnson, we should be able to get some local coverage on WTOP and local TV, as well as FSC. This might be the best bet of the two dates.

This sounds great if everything runs smoothly, but if only 100 die hards show up it could do more damage than good. We need numbers. Call your friends.

If this is going to start at Lincoln Park, folks can also walk from the Eastern Market stop. It takes less than 5 minutes (I used to live at 11th and Independence and did it every day for a few years).

We'll have all 3 sg's and the team contacting all the names on their data bases. Then we might even ask the TFC supporters to join us if that's the date we settle on. We have to go all out or not at all.

Also hit other message boards, e-mail groups, craig's list, etc... Make fliers for soccer friendly bars and public spaces. We have a few weeks - just need to confirm the dates and times and then go full on promotion.

    This can be done.

just a reminder, post this on mothers on capitol hill, and some other local capital hill places and forums that are not dc untied related as alot of people will be pissed if we close down streets without a fair amount of warning.

Look this isn't about the neighborhood. They aren't going to like protesters, even if they like the cause. It is an annoyance. We are doing this to make a point to the powers that be in DC. People like Fenty and Evans that were gaga over the Nationals and Graham and others that could be swayed. Getting Barry to come out would be a coup.

My sign: "Fenty, not a hand out, a fair deal! Poplar Point Now!"

I think in lieu of this brewing controversy a nice "MAYOR'S TEAM" banner would send a nice message.

If we can't do a march, maybe we can do a nice candlelight vigil. We're all going to be wearing black anyway.

Perhaps the next time the lights go out at RFK...

I'm thinking it might be a good idea to let soccer media know, once everything's set. FSC doesn't have the biggest budget in the world, but even a shoutout on some of their shows could help.

I'm totally in for any week-end game march date! I think I could even convince the rest of the family.
