Unfortunately the Cauldron forums came across as even more private club than the BS forums ever have been. It started out almost in secret with just a few in the know posting over there. When a wider net was cast, quite a lot more people joined only to find private areas they didn't have access to. The exclusive nature of the KCCauldron forums were very off putting in my opinion. It certainly may not have been the intent, but that was the end result. The BS forums are well established and a lot of the crap that you saw on here previously don't exist as much any more. Sure there are gonna be politics, trolls, etc. I think that is gonna be the case on any forum. What we do have is a place for one-stop shopping. You can get your Wizards fix and then jump over to other teams, national teams, tv/music, whatever floats your boat. I think that convenience keeps people coming back rather than one site dedicated to one team. As Andy said, if there is something you object to then report it.
I'm all for having more pictures available, but instead of editing, posting and managing these pics, I'd rather see us link out to people's Cauldron pic sites since there are already picture management sites available...PicasaWeb, Multiply, etc, etc. I'd like to see the same happen with video clips on YouTube.
Right, but anyone who thinks what you just typed is 1) true or 2) a reasonable thought was out of touch then and now. The reason I said that the Cauldron forums were a waste of time, and I absolutely don't mean to offend, is because it would fracture the fan base we were trying to unite. I heard the statement "well, if you read the kccauldron forums you would have heard" many times, and the people saying it were in favor of the cauldron forums because they thought BS seemed to "boys club". Since then kccauldron has become very dead while BS has only grown and diversified. Again, no offense to anyone who was involved, hell I only spoke up to a certain level it wasn't like I fought the idea from day one, I just think we should direct all message board talk to BS and use kccauldron as a jumping point for all information Wizards. Whatever we can do to make the site more interactive, updated, etc. will only help. We need that done during the offseason so we can advertise the site at the first games and have something that will impress new users. In today's world you can become pretty legitimate with the crowd we are trying to attract if you have a good web site that is worth visiting daily. I think the direction we are going is great, and I think that we've learned a lot from our past experiences. It really is time now for our group, not just in game but outside as well, grows and becomes a much larger function. A lot of the actions that we are taking are going to help us a lot IMO.
