Pretty much. We were getting €11 million a year with the two. With Jeep it's just over €11.6 million a year. Plus, I think Jeep will look horrible on the kits.
No, it's that Juve doesn't have the brand identity it once had. DHL gave ManU £40 million for 4 years to sponsor their TRAINING gear.
I think the most likely explanation is that Jeep and Juventus are both owned by FIAT which is owned by John Elkaan. Juve is back, Jeep gets on the shirt and helps its sales in Europe. Good business all around.
Still, there is not a whole lot of money out there so corporations are more selective. A stronger economy and more is spread out.
oh yeah, we still havent sold our naming rights to the stadium so theres more money coming. and we recently got awarded the EL final.

Come on. I know things aren't as free flowing as 6 years ago, but Liverpool who are also in a rough patch, have a £20M-a-year sponsorship from Standard Chartered. Considering the club will likely also be in Europe next year and is undergoing a resurgence, we definitely sold ourselves short. Way short.
do you guys not understand that FIAT owns both Juventus and Jeep? It was in their best interest to give themselves a discount for obvious reasons.
FIAT doesn't own either. FIAT is the major subsidiary of EXOR, the Agnelli family holding company. FIAT Automotive owns about a 20% share of Chrysler. EXOR owns a controlling share of Juventus (approx. 60%). They all might be assets in EXOR's portfolio, but none of these companies are privately owned by the Agnellis (they might as well in Juve's case, but technically they don't). They're all separate companies with separate revenue streams. As for the sponsorship deal, it's the best in Italy right now. Fly Emirates pays Milan 400,000 euros more than Jeep is paying Juve, but Nike pays Juve about 750,000 euros more than Adidas pays Milan. The only way Italian clubs will start earning sponsorship deals comparable to what the likes of Manchester United or Real Madrid enjoy is if the television rights to Serie A become a helluva lot more lucrative than they are now. Until then, we're not going to be able to do much better, especially since we've been out of the CL for two seasons and now that the top flight clubs have a collective TV agreement rather than their own individual contracts.
Yes, I need an explanation. Why was Liverpool, a historic club who was in at the time and has been in shit form, able to secure such a large sponsorship deal while we've been getting a fraction of the money from Balocco and Jeep. What does this have to do with Obama? Stick to the topic.
Obama = spin The deal with Liverpool was struck in 2009, not recently. Not really a comparison to what Juve got with Jeep this week. Standard Charterd is a British corporation supporting a British club. Again, not really a comparison. Find an Italian corporation that will put up that kind of money.
Fiat owns 58.5 % of Chrysler and is looking at obtaining 100% so says Sergio Marchionne. http://www.detroitnews.com/article/...121/AUTO01/CEO--Fiat-pursues-100--of-Chrysler
He Obama is the person that gave Chrysler to Fiat so he is relevant and considering all Fiat did to save that bankrupt company that money is a pittance.
In a roundabout way, yes, but comparing sponsorship deals of the current Jeep company with Standard Chartered? Obama's relevance is very, very low. Either way, Falc didn't bring Obama in the conversation to explain, he just said "what are you in the Obama administration" as a response to one of my posts.
We don't. The point is that there are not Italian companies that can pour out money like those in Britain. Standard Chartered probably sees some advantage promoting with Liverpool that gives them exposure in Britain and across the world. Therefore, it may explain why they paid their sum. Trying to compare that to the Jeep deal is like apple and oranges. The Obama remark had to do with spinning the Liverpool deal as if it was done at the same time as the Jeep one for Juve. Your are right, comparing Standard Chartered to the Jeep sponsorship is irrelevant.
Okay, and your point? I still say we could've gotten a better deal. There are many other examples of big clubs having big sponsorships from non-domestic companies. It's not like companies just sponsor clubs of their own country. They were done 3 years apart, in a similar time. Let's not make it seem like we're comparing Juve's sponsorship in 2005 to the current one. The economic landscape is still similar.
thank you Scirea. I stand corrected. So, Exor owns both Jeep and Juventus. Elkaan has a hand in all of it. Does it now start to make sense why Jeep got a discount? I'm sure that in 3 years we will get a FAT deal and everyone will be happy.
I will go back to my original point: it is the economy. You think Juve was looking for a small deal? Whining about what Liverpool got 3 years ago is irrelevant. The money is not in Italy. So unless it comes from oil, there are no big deals to be had. Considering the crap we had to go through after Calciopoli and the useless management of the club on the pitch, not a bad deal at all. You don't think Napoli, Udinese, Lazio and some other clubs would like this deal? Let's see what Roma pulls with its American owner.
Jeep gets a discount? Let's see if this makes the American news cycle and why an American car company supported with government stimulus is dishing out this money. Or has Chrysler paid back the government? The only reason Jeep is in this at all is because of its relationship with FIAT.
Okay, your opinion is that it is the economy. The economy was pretty shitty in 2009 - so what is your explanation for the big deals some other clubs have gotten at that time? I personally think we got this second rate deal because of the relationship between Fiat and Juve. And, frankly, yes, it helps the Fiat owners, but it doesn't really help the club as much as a better economic deal could.
Right, because everyone was getting killer deals in 2009 like Liverpool. For all we know, there may be directors on both boards in Britain and that is why the deal got done. Seriously, you think it works the same everywhere? Did you consider that the EPL has a wider TV audience around the world? It is not as if Standard Chartered made the deal with Napoli. So the British-British factor is important. Milan has Fly Emirates. Inter is with Pirelli, which is in house for Moratti. Napoli has Lete. Roma is with Wind. Do any of these spend big sums? The market is the market. Juve probably has one of the better deals in the world. That it is not ManU or some other club, so what.
