I just translated it. I thought the wording could have been much simpler, but it sounds like he is ready to go, either now or next season.

Small is an understatement, it looks like Freddy is taller in that plane pic!

He was invited but declined because he had to be in Germany next week.

Max Meyer was 5'4 when he made his Bundesliga debut. Mario Gotze was 5'4 as well, and he's now 5'6. Bundesliga teams aren't afraid of using short players. If Flores has the skill, he'll get a change.

People on this board are way too obsessed on how tall (or fast) players are, debating endlessly about a couple of centimetres (or inches, I guess?). o_O

Like LongDuck said, German Coaching generally has luckily moved away from the whole size issue and most are not afraid to give players a chance no matter how tall they are.

I'm assuming though that this is not the first in a line of declines leading to him declaring for another country? This is all about the Dallas Cup not being a big deal and he has club committments? I know I sound paranoid.

Is anyone really nervous that he is going to play for El Salvador?

That is a national team program in disarray after the match-fixing scandal. They're going to be lucky to qualify for the Gold Cup.

If El Salvador makes the Hex within the next few cycles, I'd be very surprised.

In addition to the other responses, it seems to be Klinsmann's policy to not call people when it could be disruptive to them starting a new contract or fighting for playing time. I'm sure if this U-20 call-up was for a tournament that mattered, he'd be in.

Oh I wasnt saying that his height would hinder his play, though obviously he wont be a threat in the air. I was just more like, damn that kid is short.

U19 Champions Trophy is this weekend:

With Borussia Dortmund, fans can look forward to Junior Flores. The Americans committed Borussia before the season as a perspective player. Allegedly Paris St. Germain and Liverpool were strong on the now 18-year-old midfielder is interested. Also in the midfield plays Mitsuru Maruoka, which in the 3rd League first gained experience already at the second representation of Borussia Dortmund.

A little fluffy, but a nice little article on Junior. h/t @Scotty for finding it.
    http://www.fupa.net/berichte/aus-den-staaten-in-die-bundesliga-147673.html

He comes from the country of unlimited possibilities and still decided to follow his dream to Germany: Junior Flores, who played with Dortmund at the U19 Trophy is considered to be one of soccer's big talents.
The fact that he had many offers from MLS, PSG or Liverpool substantiates his extraordinary talent. He chose Dortmund, however, and Jürgen Klopp can soon be happy about the next creative player. "I wanted to go to Germany by all means. The level is extremely high and the players have been trained very well both technically and physically," gushes the midfielder.
Flores didn't need much time to get used to his new surroundings, even though the right-footed player has only been in the Federal Republic for half a year. "The atmosphere in the team is amazing. Everybody tries to teach me as much German as possible." He's even learning the club songs.
Because Flores brings many characteristics that fit perfectly with the 8-time German champion, Klopap has sized him up personally. "I have trained with the first team many times," reveals the Californian. And because "Kloppo" puts a lot of stock in young players, seeing him soon in the Bundesliga would not be out of the question. With his goal clearly in his sights, Flores could also become an option for US coach JK. "Klinsmann is doing a very good job with the national team, but unfortunately we haven't had any contact." But that can change Flores thinks and mentions Julien Green as an example.

Very low center of gravity. Hard to knock him off the ball.
