I thought on twitter I read Julian accepted a call up to the next U18 camp, taking place in Cali. Anyone confirm this?
It'll be interesting if we qualify (knock on wood) for the U20 World Cup if his number will be called with the amount of good attacking players already on the team.
Brace vs. Greuther Fuerth U-19s on 3/2: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/f...er-fuerth-u19/index/spielbericht_2241868.html Assist vs. Zach Pfeffer & Hoffenheim U-19s on 2/10: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/f...offenheim-u19/index/spielbericht_2241867.html
Hoffenheim team beats Bayern Munich ..that great for Pfeffer and Russell Canouse 2 local boys doing well in Germany
This hasn't been updated in awhile...so All with Bayern's U19 squad. 3/16 versus Eintracht Frankfurt - Played RW and scored a goal in a 4-2 win. 4/7 versus FSV Frankfurt - RW and scored another goal in a 3-0 win. 4/14 versus Stuttgart - RW and 88 minutes in a 0-0 draw. 4/20 versus Unterhach - Did not dress.
Even though he didn't get into the game, it's nice to see that he made the bench for Bayern II. Apart from Pierre Højbjerg, who's Bayern's best u19, he's the youngest player to make the bench. It'll be interesting to see if he continues to see some time with Bayern II.
How can you make such an absolute statement about a player you've probably never seen. All we can go by are reports and performances with youth teams and he is THE man for Bayern u-19's and looks a strong candidate to move up to Bayern's de facto U-23's next season. For his age I would say he is coming along at a great rate. Based on substance I would put him below the likes of Brooks, McInerney, Villareal, Agudelo and Yedlin. But then again even the more established US youth players like McInerney and Agudelo would at best only be contributors or starters for Bayern II. So it's hard to say he isn't as talented or has less potential than them, without seeing him play more.
By using common sense. We have a number of MLS/Euro players who are 21 and under. I highly doubt Green gets any PT in the MLS as a 17 year old regardless of how well he's doing for Munichs u19 team which leads me to the conclusion he isn't in the top 10. It's not a big leap on my end. I would also argue that at 17 he might not even be top 10 solely looking at u20 players but that would be hard to argue since they're probably closer to his level and I'm not familiar with him. 17 is young. Those extra 3-4 years are a world of difference.
On the other side of the coin we could be looking at a player who in 3-4 years is the best youth player in the US system. His age should not disqualify him from the conversation of top youth players. Sure, he isn't old enough to have done things the others have but I would argue none of those other players were as far along as Green was at 17 outside of Agudelo.
I don't want to argue about something silly as ranking a guy. I was pointing out the fact that at the moment he's not one of the top 10 under 21 players in our system. I'm not talking about ceiling or how good he will be. I'm speaking about right now and no matter how you slice it he's not as good at the moment as a lot of guys who are 21 or under for the US.
Excuse me but isn't that the whole point of ranking youth players? On ceiling and how good they will/might be? Since, ya know, most of them aren't established pros or far enough along that you can adequately judge them.
You're panties are in a bunch aren't they? Projection will get you nowhere. I don't know if you ever visit a site called reddit but some guy posted this list of the top ranked global under 21 players from 10 years ago. Looking back at the list, very few of these "elite prospects" who where projected to be the best in the world actually had good careers. Very very few. Feel free to project, it is fun but it's a direct ticket to heart ache. I agree that based on his resume (and resume alone) he might have a high ceiling but who knows. Remember Charles Renken? So much can happen, even injuries. Anyway I've strung this conversation along much more then is needed. Take it easy man.
