I thought it might be a good idea for us to have a spot to discuss the Olympics, be it regarding soccer (shame we can't defend our title) or any other sport.

    Vamos Argentina!

Great win for las Leonas, 7-1 over south africa

Volleyball also won an impressive match

In soccer, Neymar completely dominated today... A golazo and 2 spectacular assists. I don't get what people have against neymar, he is a crack and a rock star. Sure he dives a bit, but he's getting better in that regard... Still just a young kid

Yeah, I staid up till 3ish watched the water polo game(Between Croatia-Greece, great game). I tried to wake up and watch Leonas play but that I had a long day, couldn't wake up. Looks like Honduras is pushing the gallegos right now who are basically on the brink of going home. Uruguay also lost today. If Spain and Uruguay(Uru, has a win though, there chances of going home is a lot less than Spain) both go home, looks like Brasil will take gold. Even though Mexico can push them as well Senegal.

Glad we won our first game in Volleyball, would of loved to watch it, but so many things going on at the same time, it's insane. I don't feel like watching events on stream, even though there are 4 channels showing events(NBC itself, showing things on delay) a ton going on. But back to volleyball, Brasil are the favorites as they should be. Russia, the US also have strong teams.

We play Lithuania in a little bit in basketball. I really hope we medal for a 3rd straight Olympics. It will be tough, US and Spain are probably favorites to medal, and Brasil have a much stronger team then in previous years. I'll be happy with a medal.

Lithuania is one of those teams since the break up of the Soviet Union has been a team that has nearly contended for a medal in every Olympics since 92. They always seem to be doing good.

I'm trying to watch everything I can. 24 channels cover all the sports and I'm off to Eton Dorney tomorrow for the rowing with my young nephew. Cannot wait.

Impressive trouncing of Lithuania from the Argentine team with Scola and Ginobli to the fore. Silver is still a realistic prospect. Great support and rapport between players and supporters.

Las Leonas showed some wonderful play too. Luciana of course led the team out in the parade in the Opening ceremony. Shame the u23 aren't around as they could have won this time too.

Anyone watching the Argentina-Poland volleyball game? The game sounds and looks like it was in Warsaw or something. The entire crowd pretty much Polish and they’re boing every single time Argentina is going to serve and then they count to 3 every time Poland is preparing for a spike.

Argentina down 2 sets to 0 and right now Poland are winning 21-14 the third one. It’s pretty much lost.

Del Po in the semis, will play Federer. It's best out of 3(The final is the only best out of5) so Del Po has a shot. Novak-Murray on the other side.

So Del Po will be playing for a medal regardless of the result.

Suarez and Rosso put in a great effort to get fourth in the mens double sculls.

Did the Lionesses really lose to the USA ? Winning 1-0 right now from a steal by Rebecchi versus the Black Sticks.

I saw some of the handball between Argentina and GB. Argentina were winning last I saw this afternoon. Schulz was excellent in goal.

Why no Argentine swimmers ? Brazil are doing pretty well in getting several finalists like Fratus and Cielho.

Del Potro blitzed Nishikori off the court. I reckon he has every chance against Federer if he is on the same form. Nishikori isn't a slouch.

It's just not enough real interest. I swam and played water polo till I was in my late teens, and it's just not there. Our best swimmers at the Olympics Grabich and Pereyra who had qualified for the Olympics but did not so good. Grabich could of qualified to continue on in the 50m but was a second short(Which is basically a lifetime in swimming). If you compare Pereyra's time and the gold medalist there is something like a 11 second difference.

There are other swimmers but always fail in the early stages of the Olympics.

2-1 for the Lionesses. Both goals from Woman of the Match Rebecchi. So they top the group now on goal difference but they need to improve if they want to win the gold.

SM I think if Brazil can do it so can Argentina. Just need to focus on the schools perhaps get the best young ones into the American collegiate system like the Brazilians.

I know the population equation is unfavourable but the determination and pride to suceed is a hallmark of Argentine sport. Considering the advantages many other countries have in facilities the country does pull above it's weight in the sporting field.

Rugby sevens will be in Rio so Argentina will have another chance to medal there although in all fairness the Pacific Islanders and NZ will be favourites.

Boxing and beach volleyball still going on along with volleyball and handball. Think I'll catch the Scandinavian derby between Sweden and Iceland. ;)

Brasil does well in the Summer Olympics just because of the delegation they sent out. They sent out 122 more athletes. Swimming would be great for Argentina. If we do well, the fans will come and a new generation of swimmers will go. But if we want to do good, our swimmers would really need to move to Brasil,France or move to the States and swim at the college level and move on from there.

We kick ass in Rugby, and I sure Brasil wishes they were on our level. Brasil is better in volleyball but Brasil always been quite good in volley, taking away a bronze from them in Seoul is great. I wish we were better in volleyball but our teams have always been up an down for the most part. Our youth team did take silver in the youth games a couple years back though, Cuba won the gold that year.

The Delpo-Federer match is crazy. They’re tied with one set each. And right now it’s 10-9 for the winning set. And Delpo just tied it. It’s 10-10! That’s crazy.

Damn Delpo just pulled this game out of his ass he was losing 40-15 and if he lost Federer would be serving for the match. He came back and won the game.

Heartbreak for JMDP. He always has given Roger fits, I knew he would. I was really torn in the game. Grass is not even Delpo's game, if it was hard courts, DelPo probably wins. Roger probably the greatest ever on grass. I hope it's not a let down for Del Po, hope he will be ready for the US Open.

Yamil Peralta also won and qualified to the semi-finals in boxing. Note that in the past boxing has been a sport where Argentina used to get medals. Before this year's olympics no argentine boxer had won a fight since Sydney 2000.
